{"id":426181,"date":"2025-12-05T09:53:18","date_gmt":"2025-12-05T09:53:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/426181\/"},"modified":"2025-12-05T09:53:18","modified_gmt":"2025-12-05T09:53:18","slug":"dga-says-wbd-netflix-talks-raise-significant-concerns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/426181\/","title":{"rendered":"DGA Says WBD-Netflix Talks Raise &#8220;Significant Concerns&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe Directors Guild of America says it plans to meet with <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/netflix\/\" id=\"auto-tag_netflix\" data-tag=\"netflix\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Netflix<\/a> to discuss \u201cconcerns\u201d regarding the streamer\u2019s potential acquisition of <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/warner-bros-2\/\" id=\"auto-tag_warner-bros-2\" data-tag=\"warner-bros-2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Warner Bros.<\/a> Discovery.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAfter news broke Thursday night that <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/12\/netflix-wins-bidding-for-warner-bros-discovery-1236637057\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Netflix had won the bidding war<\/a> for the legacy media company and the two would be entering exclusive talks to secure a deal, a guild spokesperson told Deadline that the development \u201craises significant\u00a0concerns for the <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/dga\/\" id=\"auto-tag_dga\" data-tag=\"dga\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DGA<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cWe believe that a vibrant, competitive industry \u2014 one that fosters creativity and encourages genuine competition for talent \u2014 is essential to safeguarding the careers and creative rights of directors and their teams. We will be meeting with Netflix to outline our concerns and\u00a0better understand their vision for the future of the company. While we undertake this due diligence we will not be commenting further,\u201d the statement continued.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe DGA is the first, but likely not the last, Hollywood union to comment on the latest development in the WBD acquisition saga. The Writers Guild of America East and West said in a joint statement in October that they <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/10\/wga-plans-block-warner-bros-discovery-paramount-merger-1236596108\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">planned to block<\/a> any potential merger of WBD and Paramount, warning that further media consolidation \u201cwould be a disaster for writers, for consumers, and for competition.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThursday was a tumultuous day that saw\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/paramount\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Paramount<\/a>\u00a0move aggressively to counter Netflix\u2019s offer and seal a deal of its own for WBD. According to sources, Netflix offered around $28 a share for the company, mostly in cash.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tWBD put itself on the block in October to open up the process after receiving three consecutive offers from Paramount.
