\u00a0pet cat was found shot with what officers say appeared to be a blow dart.<\/a> The suspect remains at large, and neighbors are left shaken and searching for answers.<\/p>\nOfficers were called to the 7100 block of Spring Terrace around 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 28 after a resident discovered an orange dart lodged in their cat\u2019s body. The owner rushed the injured animal to a veterinarian, where the cat underwent emergency surgery for injuries to its spine and lung.<\/p>\n
For neighbors like Kaylen Key, the news hit close to home.<\/p>\n
\u201cFirst I was scared it was one of mine,\u201d Key said. \u201cBecause my cats go in and out. And I\u2019m an animal lover so I was very sad and disturbed.\u201d<\/p>\n
Key, who owns four cats, says the neighborhood is full of outdoor felines and the idea that someone could intentionally harm one is deeply unsettling.<\/p>\n
\u201cI was hoping it\u2019s not somebody from my neighborhood,\u201d she said. \u201cBecause that\u2019s very malicious and evil.\u201d<\/p>\n
As police continue searching for whoever is responsible, residents say fear is growing each day.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it\u2019s despicable. But it can also be scary,\u201d Key added. \u201cDoing violence against an innocent animal that can\u2019t defend, can\u2019t speak, what else are they capable of?\u201d<\/p>\n
The cat\u2019s condition has not been released.<\/p>\n
