RUSTON<\/strong> \u2013 Jordan Marshall’s<\/a> clutch free throws with 0.7 seconds left lift Lady Techsters over the Jaguars on the Thomas Assembly Center’s 43rd birthday.

\nThe Lady Techsters jumped out quick to a 5-0 lead after an Alexia Weaver<\/a> layup and Jordan Marshall<\/a> and-one, but the Jaguars quickly answered back with four points of their own. South Alabama took a short lead 7-8 behind a Cordasia Harris layup, but Marshall would reclaim the lead with a layup of her own. After two more ties and three lead changes, the Jaguars would claim the first quarter 20-19. Marshall paced the squad with seven points and four rebounds on 3-3 shooting.

\nSouth Alabama reinforced the lead scoring the first three points, but the Lady Techsters would find life downtown. Morris would nail one from deep, then Averi Aaron<\/a> would add two three-balls of her own, giving Louisiana Tech the lead 28-27. The Jaguars would quickly take the lead back behind a Diawna Carter-Hartley layup and they would take that lead into the media, up 33-32. No basket was scored for almost two minutes when Weaver’s deep shot broke the silence and reclaimed a Lady Techsters lead. After two more ties, a Paris Bradley<\/a> layup behind a Joy Madison-Key<\/a> dish would send LA Tech into the half with the lead, 41-37. Weaver led the way with seven points, followed closely by Averi Aaron<\/a> with six. Jordan Marshall<\/a> added another four rebounds in the frame, totaling eight in the first half. Madison-Key led the team with four assists, adding a block and two points.

\nThe third quarter was all Alexia Weaver<\/a>. Louisiana Tech never lost their lead and ballooned it up to 14 in the frame behind Kaliegh Thompson’s first points of the night. Weaver’s deception on her drive led to an easy layup to close the quarter, giving the Lady Techsters an 11-point lead heading into the 4th, 62-51. Weaver was electric in the frame, scoring 13 of LA Tech’s 21 points. The transfer from Three Rivers shot 4-6 from the field, 3-4 from deep, and 2-2 from the charity stripe. She did so in less than eight minutes of game time.

\nDespite facing an 11-point hole, the Jaguars used the fourth quarter to play their best frame of the game, posting a game high 29 points. The lead for Louisiana Tech peaked as high as 15, but South Alabama slowly chipped away, eventually pulling the gap down to four with 1:35 to go. Paris Bradley’s<\/a> layup to stretch her double-figure scoring streak to nine games extended the Lady Techsters lead to 80-74, but Amyah Sutton would silence the TAC with two straight three pointers, tying the game 80-all with 16 seconds left. Paris Bradley<\/a> would attempt the final shot of the game with a left-handed drive, but no call was made throughout the contact. Jordan Marshall<\/a> would secure the offensive rebound and shoot one more time for the win, but it did not find the bottom of the net. As both teams headed to their benches, the referee crew got together and deemed that Marshall was fouled on her attempt. After review and 0.7 seconds added to the clock, Marshall would shoot two final free throws, sinking both, and ultimately winning the game for the Lady Techsters. Her eight points would lead the team in the frame, including a perfect 4-4 from the line.

\nAlexia Weaver<\/a> set a new career high with 27 points, the most by a Lady Techster this season and tied for most in Conference USA. Her four three-pointers also ties a career high, the second time she has hit the mark this season. She added two steals and a rebound, while shooting 9-10 from the free throw line. \u00a0\u00a0

\nJordan Marshall<\/a> logged her second double-double of the season, scoring 19 points and grabbing 16 boards. Marshall also shot 7-8 from the field with a perfect 5-5 from the line, including the two to seal the game for the Lady Techsters. Sixteen rebounds is the fifth most by a Conference USA player this season.<\/p>\n

There were 10 lead changes and six ties in the game, with the Lady Techsters leading for 28:45 of gametime. Louisiana Tech shot 26-31 from the free throw line, the first time since Feb. 15th 2025 that LA Tech made 25 or more.

\nObviously, you are happy to come away with a win tonight against South Alabama. We were not as connected as a group defensively as we need to be, and they did a nice job taking advantage of that. The defensive effort and energy in the third quarter is the standard we need to meet for 40 minutes. We gave up too many offensive rebounds and did not finish possessions with a defensive rebound. We will get that corrected.

\nWe felt like we had an opportunity to get to the free throw line tonight, and I am very proud of our group for attacking and taking advantage of those attempts. We have been shooting a lot of pressure free throws in practice and trying to get our team in those situations as much as possible. They did a great job of converting at the line tonight and it came up huge for us.

\nThis group has not been in a close, late game situation like that this season. We work on end of game situations a lot in practice. It is totally different when you get under the lights and there is real pressure in the game. I was very proud of the way they handled the last possession. Olivia Grayson<\/a> does a great job with our sideline and baseline inbounds, and the got us into a good look for Paris and Jordan came up with a huge play to get the offensive rebound and draw the foul. This had a conference game feel to it, and I think it will pay big dividends for us later in the year. It was not our best defensive performance, we gave up a fourth quarter lead, but I am very proud of them for finding a way to win the game.
