With the FIFA World Cup<\/a> bringing world-class soccer to North Texas next summer, Dallas\u2019 leading cultural institutions aren\u2019t sitting on the sidelines. Organizers on Dec. 5 announced a series of community events set to take place from June 19 to July 11. <\/p>\n

Here\u2019s an early look at some of the highlights, with more details to be announced in the new year. Organizers say a major public art installation will also be announced early next year. <\/p>\n

This event attracts thousands of visitors annually, celebrating the diversity and welcoming spirit of Dallas. The street party spills over into some of the city\u2019s top museums, including the Dallas Museum of Art, the Nasher Sculpture Center and the Crow Museum of Asian Art. <\/p>\n

June 26: Flora Street Live <\/b><\/p>\n

This block party will include ticketed performances in Strauss Square, a Broadway Dallas presentation of the musical Clue in the Winspear Opera House and a performance by the Dallas Symphony Orchestra at the Meyerson Symphony Center. TITAS\/Dance Unbound will present a showcase of local arts organizations in Moody Performance Hall and Sammons Park will host a free festival.<\/p>\n

July 4: Independence Day Celebration<\/b><\/p>\n

This annual event at Klyde Warren Park will mark the nation\u2019s 250th birthday with live performances and fireworks. <\/p>\n

July 9: Thursdays on Tap: Soccer Edition<\/b><\/p>\n

A special edition of the Perot Museum of Nature and Science\u2019s Thursdays on Tap program will feature food, live music and more. The Perot will also be presenting an exhibit on the science of soccer<\/a> during the World Cup.<\/p>\n

June 21: Nocturnal Animal Walk and Performances <\/b><\/p>\n

Halperin Park \u2014 the city\u2019s newest deck park, slated to open in the spring \u2014 will host live performances and food trucks, and the neighboring Dallas Zoo will be lit up with lanterns as it hosts animal-themed activities and musical performances.<\/p>\n

New landscaping was installed in November near the band shell at Halperin Park. Dallas’ newest deck park is expected to open in the spring.<\/p>\n

June 24: Copa de Cliff Oak Cliff <\/b><\/p>\n

Bishop Avenue, Jefferson Boulevard and Winnetka Avenue will be filled with performances, classic cars, food, vendors and more in this celebration of the neighborhood\u2019s history and culture. <\/p>\n
