Phoenix-area freeways: Everything you need to know to get around<\/p>\n

Several freeways traverse the Phoenix area, including many state routes that loop around the Valley, providing easy access to the different regions.<\/p>\n

The Republic<\/p>\n

Phoenix-area motorists should watch for ramp closures during the first weekend of December, throughout major freeways in the Valley, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.<\/p>\n

Inclement weather or other factors may lead to schedule changes, ADOT said. The department plans and constructs new freeways, additional lanes and other improvements in the Phoenix area as part of the Regional Transportation Plan for the Maricopa County region.<\/p>\n

For real-time highway conditions, drivers should check\u00a0az511.gov<\/a>, the az511 app or call 511.<\/p>\n

Here are the scheduled freeway closures for Dec. 5 through Dec. 8 in the Phoenix area.<\/p>\n

Northbound Interstate 17<\/p>\n

When:<\/strong> 10 p.m. Dec. 5 to 5 a.m. Dec. 8<\/p>\n

Where:<\/strong> Exit ramp to Loop 303\/Sonoran Desert Drive<\/p>\n

Why:<\/strong> Widening ramp<\/p>\n

Detour:<\/strong> Consider exiting northbound I-17 at Dove Valley Road and traveling west to southbound 43rd Avenue to connect with westbound Loop 303.<\/p>\n

Northbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway)<\/p>\n

When:<\/strong> 10 p.m. Dec. 5 to 5 a.m. Dec. 8<\/p>\n

Where:<\/strong> Off-ramp at Frank Lloyd Wright Boulevard; northbound Loop 101 frontage road between Raintree Drive and Frank Lloyd Wright closed<\/p>\n

Why:<\/strong> Paving as part of a freeway-widening project<\/p>\n

Detour:<\/strong> Drivers can exit at Raintree and travel west to northbound Hayden Road to reach Frank Lloyd Wright. Exiting northbound 101 at Princess Drive\/Pima Road before using the southbound frontage road to reach Frank Lloyd Wright is another option.<\/p>\n

Also:<\/strong> The northbound 101 on-ramp at Shea Boulevard is also closed from 10 p.m. Nov. 5 to 5 a.m. Dec. 8. Consider alternate routes, including northbound Hayden or 92nd Street to Cactus Road to access northbound 101.<\/p>\n

Northbound and southbound I-17 ramps to westbound 101 (Agua Fria Freeway)<\/p>\n

When:<\/strong> 9 p.m. Dec. 5 to 5 a.m. Dec. 6<\/p>\n

Where:<\/strong> Northbound as well as southbound I-17<\/p>\n

Why:<\/strong> Widening project<\/p>\n
