{"id":426486,"date":"2025-12-05T12:58:38","date_gmt":"2025-12-05T12:58:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/426486\/"},"modified":"2025-12-05T12:58:38","modified_gmt":"2025-12-05T12:58:38","slug":"f-and-m-lines-swapping-stops-between-manhattan-queens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/426486\/","title":{"rendered":"F and M lines swapping stops between Manhattan, Queens"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/0pl59whl1m8662sv.jpg\" alt=\"F\/M NYC subway line swap\" class=\"sr-only\" data-v-4292be72=\"\"\/>  <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox5ny.com\/video\/1750837\" data-v-4292be72=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">F\/M NYC subway line swap<\/a> <\/p>\n<p data-v-4292be72=\"\">FOX 5 NY&#8217;s Arthur Chi&#8217;en explains the F and M subway line switch that will happen in New York City soon.<\/p>\n<p data-v-3646484b=\"\"><strong>NEW YORK<\/strong> &#8211; The F and M trains will be switching routes between <a href=\"https:\/\/fox5ny.com\/tag\/us\/ny\/nyc\/queens\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Manhattan<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/fox5ny.com\/tag\/us\/ny\/nyc\/queens\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">Queens<\/a> starting next week, and while officials say the move will help relieve congestion on the tracks, some <a href=\"https:\/\/fox5ny.com\/tag\/us\/ny\/nyc\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">New Yorkers<\/a> are worried it will affect their <a href=\"https:\/\/fox5ny.com\/tag\/transportation\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">commute<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>   F and M trains swapping stops <\/p>\n<p original-article-post=\"\" origination_station=\"WNYW\" data-v-ec26887a=\"\" data-v-3646484b=\"\">What we know:<\/p>\n<p data-v-3646484b=\"\">Starting on Monday, Dec. 8, the F and M lines will permanently switch stops between Manhattan and Queens, but only on weekdays from 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<p data-v-3646484b=\"\">Going forward, the F train will now stop at:<\/p>\n<ul original-article-post=\"\" origination_station=\"WNYW\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\" data-v-3646484b=\"\">\n<li class=\"article-ct\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\">Queens Plaza<\/li>\n<li class=\"article-ct\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\">Court Sq-23 St<\/li>\n<li class=\"article-ct\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\">Lexington Av\/53 St<\/li>\n<li class=\"article-ct\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\">5 Av\/53 St<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-v-3646484b=\"\">The M train will stop at:<\/p>\n<ul original-article-post=\"\" origination_station=\"WNYW\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\" data-v-3646484b=\"\">\n<li class=\"article-ct\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\">21 St-Queensbridge<\/li>\n<li class=\"article-ct\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\">Roosevelt Island<\/li>\n<li class=\"article-ct\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\">Lexington Av\/63 St<\/li>\n<li class=\"article-ct\" data-v-03e8ff79=\"\">57 St<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-v-3646484b=\"\">At night and on the weekends, the trains will operate the same way.<\/p>\n<p>  Why are the F and M trains swapping? <\/p>\n<p original-article-post=\"\" origination_station=\"WNYW\" data-v-ec26887a=\"\" data-v-3646484b=\"\">Dig deeper:<\/p>\n<p data-v-3646484b=\"\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/fox5ny.com\/tag\/organization\/mta\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\">MTA<\/a> says they&#8217;re making the change to help reduce congestion on lines that share tracks, particularly at the switch at Queen&#8217;s Plaza. The change means that the E train will now share tracks with just two other lines, down from three. The M train will go from sharing the tracks with four other trains, down to three.<\/p>\n<p data-v-3646484b=\"\">Officials said the swap will help speed up the E, F, M and R trains.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p original-article-post=\"\" origination_station=\"WNYW\" data-v-ec26887a=\"\" data-v-3646484b=\"\">What they&#8217;re saying:<\/p>\n<p data-v-3646484b=\"\">Janno Lieber, chair and CEO of the MTA, said that while &#8220;nobody likes change,&#8221; the swap has its benefits.<\/p>\n<p data-v-3646484b=\"\">&#8220;Folks in this station on Roosevelt Island are going to get less crowded trains, whichever direction they&#8217;re headed to,&#8221; Lieber said. &#8220;The F train coming from eastern Queens is really, really crowded in the morning, so you have more chance of getting a seat.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p data-v-3646484b=\"\">Some commuters tell <strong>FOX 5 NY<\/strong> though, that the change will make their daily commute more complicated.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-3646484b=\"\">One man who commutes to Uptown Manhattan every day, says he&#8217;ll have to find a new route that will include an extra transfer.<\/p>\n<p data-v-3646484b=\"\">Another told <strong>FOX 5 NY<\/strong> that &#8220;It happened before, and it was confusing.
