Click here to watch<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">The woman appeared to have slipped, and the bus hit her, police said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">She has been identified to the Cook County Medical Examiner&#8217;s Office as Tracy Frasure.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Several witnesses said the bus not only hit and killed a woman trying to get on at a stop, but then proceeded to keep driving after the crash.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">&#8220;Heard something sound like branches on the glass,&#8221; witness Wayne Foster said.<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"zZygg UbGlr iFzkS qdXbA WCDhQ DbOXS tqUtK GpWVU iJYzE \" data-testid=\"prism-linkbase\" href=\"https:\/\/abc7chicago.com\/post\/chicago-crash-cta-bus-hits-kills-woman-south-shore-drive-cpd-says\/18245379\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">RELATED: CTA bus kept driving after hitting, killing woman trying to board on South Side: witnesses<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Foster said he was riding the No. 26 bus when he noticed a woman who was knocking on the door at a stop near 70th Street and South Shore Drive.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">&#8220;Me and the other passengers told this the driver that there was a woman on the ground. He proceeded to say, &#8216;Oh, (expletive).&#8217; And drove off,&#8221; Foster said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Foster said he got off the bus and tried to help.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">&#8220;I know that somebody&#8217;s little girl, that somebody&#8217;s child, somebody&#8217;s going like, somebody&#8217;s whole world is going to be crushed today,&#8221; Foster said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">A CTA spokesperson said, &#8220;According to preliminary information, CTA received reports of contact between a #26 bus and a female pedestrian at 69th and South Shore.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">Foster says he was on his way to work at the time. But the incident was so traumatic he ended up going home. He says now he is just praying for the family.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC TjIXL aGjvy \">&#8220;Take your time to grieve, but to also reach out to the city, reach out to CTA, important them to be transparent and not to have a lot behind legal tape,&#8221; Foster said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"EkqkG IGXmU nlgHS yuUao lqtkC eTIW sUzSN \">The CTA did not directly answer a question about the driver proceeding to drive off.<\/p>\n<p>Copyright \u00a9 2025 WLS-TV.
