Co-founders Brandon Hoy and chef Carlo Mirarchi opened the restaurant in early 2023, showcasing pasta, meats, and a dynamic natural wine list in a long, narrow room with an open kitchen. 15 Avenue A, between Houston and East Second streets<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph n2hx75i _1knl15h1 _1knl15h0 cej01i1\"><strong>East Village:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mamafinas.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Mama Fina\u2019s<\/strong><\/a><strong>,<\/strong> a Filipino mainstay for sizzling sisig for the past eight years, shut down its sole NYC address on Sunday, November 30. \u201cIn all honesty, the last couple of years have been challenging,\u201d per a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DRqFsdWke19\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">message on social media<\/a>. \u201cStay tuned for future updates.\u201d Its Hackensack, N.J. location, located right across the bridge, remains open. 167 Avenue A., near East 11th Street <\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph n2hx75i _1knl15h1 _1knl15h0 cej01i1\"><strong>Long Island City:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jacksonslic.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Jackson\u2019s Eatery &amp; Bar<\/strong><\/a>, the Southern-styled spot for St. Louis barbecue ribs, blackened salmon, mac and cheese, and jazz nights since 2016, closed on Monday, December 1. Its lease was up, per a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DRshVsBDiaP\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">closing statement on social media<\/a>, and the team did not renew. 10-37 Jackson Avenue, at 50th Avenue<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph n2hx75i _1knl15h1 _1knl15h0 cej01i1\"><strong>Lower East Side: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.clawdaddysnyc.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Claw Daddy\u2019s<\/strong>,<\/a> NYC\u2019s ode to New Orleans favorites like broiled oysters, po\u2019 boys, seafood boils, and pouched cocktails for the past 15 years, closed its original Manhattan location on Monday, December 1. Its other outpost in the Boerum Hill neighborhood is \u201cwhere we will be from this day forward,\u201d per a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DRtIUaHkS7J\/?hl=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">statement<\/a> from the team. 185 Orchard Street, between East Houston and Stanton streets<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph n2hx75i _1knl15h1 _1knl15h0 cej01i1\"><strong>Lower East Side<\/strong>: <a href=\"https:\/\/ny.eater.com\/venue\/115954\/cactus-wren\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Cactus Wren<\/strong><\/a>, pegged as a restaurant with \u201cregional Southwestern cuisine and French techniques\u201d in a <a href=\"https:\/\/ny.eater.com\/2025\/5\/1\/24421788\/cactus-wren-lower-east-side-nyc-manhattan-review\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">comparatively <\/a>casual setting with seafood and wood-fired pizza, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DRM2zGoDUGM\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">closed<\/a> on <a href=\"https:\/\/ny.eater.com\/news\/407133\/llama-inn-closing-nyc-restaurant-peruvian\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sunday, November 30<\/a>. Samuel Clonts and Raymond Trinh, who worked at tasting menu spot <a href=\"https:\/\/ny.eater.com\/venue\/80172\/63-clinton-st\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">63 Clinton<\/a>, had only <a href=\"https:\/\/ny.eater.com\/2025\/2\/6\/24355482\/nyc-new-restaurant-openings-february-2025\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">opened<\/a> Cactus Wren in February. \u201cAfter lots of conversations, deep breaths, and a whole lot of feelings, we\u2019ve made the tough call to close Cactus Wren,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DRM2zGoDUGM\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">explains the Instagram post<\/a>. \u201cRestauranting is difficult, y\u2019all.\u201d 98 Rivington Street, at Ludlow Street<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph n2hx75i _1knl15h1 _1knl15h0 cej01i1\"><strong>Midtown<\/strong>: <strong>Palace Diner<\/strong>, the old-school staple known for its gluten-free menu, friendly staff, all-day omelets, and homestyle dishes for the past 40 years, closed at the start of December. The owners <a href=\"https:\/\/www.threads.com\/@themexican\/post\/DRqO9r0kVAq?xmt=AQF0-hVc-HPDoxtg4ap5KNet8tFxwYZJTQfE9W-1pEWfUOLBb6JvDZjKGdNULxN0aDDFL5CW&amp;slof=1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">allegedly<\/a> couldn\u2019t make the new rent. 122 East 57th Street, near Lexington Avenue<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph n2hx75i _1knl15h1 _1knl15h0 cej01i1\"><strong>Union Square: <\/strong>Japanese-influenced udon noodle eatery <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tsurutontan.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Tsuru Ton Tan<\/strong><\/a> shut down its Union Square-adjacent location on Sunday, November 30. \u201cAfter careful consideration, we have made this difficult decision,\u201d per a message on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DRi_8HhDdJH\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Instagram<\/a>. Its Midtown location remains open. 21 East 16th Street, near Union Square West<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph n2hx75i _1knl15h1 _1knl15h0 cej01i1\"><strong>Upper West Side:<\/strong> <strong>The Emerald Inn<\/strong>, a family-run UWS relic around since 1943 (and in its current address for about a decade), closed on Wednesday, December 3, per <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westsiderag.com\/2025\/12\/02\/82-year-old-upper-west-side-bar-will-permanently-close\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">West Side Rag<\/a>. \u201cWe\u2019ve fallen behind on our bills and rent, and like many small businesses, we\u2019re still recovering from the long-lasting impact of Covid-19,\u201d wrote its fourth-generation partner, Charlie Campbell, on a GoFundMe page. The organizing effort raised less than 5 percent of its $100,000 goal to save the place. 250 West 72nd Street, between Broadway and West End Avenue<\/p>\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph n2hx75i _1knl15h1 _1knl15h0 cej01i1\"><strong>Upper East Side: <\/strong>The 24\/7 <strong>Tramway Diner <\/strong>was ordered to close by the New York City health department.
