{"id":427304,"date":"2025-12-05T21:10:12","date_gmt":"2025-12-05T21:10:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/427304\/"},"modified":"2025-12-05T21:10:12","modified_gmt":"2025-12-05T21:10:12","slug":"ana-de-armas-confirms-january-shoot-for-reenactment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/427304\/","title":{"rendered":"Ana De Armas Confirms January Shoot For \u2018Reenactment\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tCuban actress <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/ana-de-armas\/\" id=\"auto-tag_ana-de-armas\" data-tag=\"ana-de-armas\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ana de Armas<\/a> spent half her 20-year career making her way to Hollywood with a three-year stint in Spain before heading to L.A. with three suitcases, her dog and very little English in 2016.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe actress\u2019 trajectory since is the stuff of dreams with her some dozen credits since including Bladerunner 2049, Knives Out, No Time To Die, an Oscar-nominated performance in <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/blonde\/\" id=\"auto-tag_blonde\" data-tag=\"blonde\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Blonde<\/a> and Ballerina.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tIn an on-stage conversation moderated by Deadline\u2019s Diana Lodderhose at the <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/red-sea-film-festival\/\" id=\"auto-tag_red-sea-film-festival\" data-tag=\"red-sea-film-festival\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Red Sea Film Festival<\/a> on Friday, de Armas looked back at her time in Spain, where she appeared in popular TV teen dramas, with affection even if she had no regrets about moving on.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tHowever, the actress revealed that she still harboured ambitions of clinching a big role in a Spanish feature film, with the opportunity never arising during her time there due to her TV work.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cI didn\u2019t have time to really do anything else. I really wanted to get back to films, but I just couldn\u2019t get my schedule to work with anything else. I did manage to do a couple films, but it was always in roles that were still teenagers, or like young girls.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cMy years in Spain, unfortunately, I didn\u2019t get to do as many films as I wanted to, and I love Spanish cinema and I love Spanish directors\u2026 Every time I go to Spain, \u2018I say it, please call me. I want to work here. I\u2019m available, send me scripts\u2019,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cI feel like they feel because I\u2019m not really there, that I\u2019m unreachable\u2026 I love going back and forth and I love European cinema.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tDe Arma said moving to L.A. having achieved some fame in Spain was \u201ca humbling\u201d experience in her early days in the city.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cLeaving everything in Spain\u2026 that was not an easy move. In Spain, even though I was doing mostly TV and a couple of films, I had a career, I could have kept going there, I was settled, I was good,\u201d she recalled.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cWhen I moved to the U.S., it was the most humbling thing I\u2019ve ever done. No one knew who I was. No one cared. My work in Spain or Cuba didn\u2019t exist. I didn\u2019t speak the language. They were not very patient either.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tHer breakthrough moment was being cast in Eli Roth\u2019s Knock Knock, opposite Keanu Reeves, who became a friend and recently reprised his John Wick with her in Ballerina. \u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tEven though de Armas is now one of Hollywood\u2019s hottest acting properties, she revealed flashes of imposter syndrome in the conversation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAsked if her Oscar nomination for Blonde had opened doors, de Armas replied: \u201cNot really. I don\u2019t know, I feel like some people think that it was kind of a fluke\u2026 there\u2019s still this kind of feeling of having to prove myself again somehow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cBut I\u2019ve always been the one looking for what I want to do instead of just waiting for what they have to offer,\u201d \u00a0she continued, making it clear she was looking for fresh challenges. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cNot to devalue what Ballerina is, which is the most fun I\u2019ve had on set and I love doing an action movie, but that\u2019s probably what the industry would want me to keep doing\u2026 but it\u2019s not all I have to offer. It\u2019s me who chases what\u2019s coming next, who is looking for the writers and the directors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tHaving worked with established directors such as Len Wiseman, Ron Howard and Andrew Dominik in recent years, de Armas heads to the set next in Grant Singer\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/reenactment\/\" id=\"auto-tag_reenactment\" data-tag=\"reenactment\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reenactment<\/a>, alongside Benicio del Toro and Cameron Diaz.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cI\u2019m gonna do this movie in LA with Grant Singer, who\u2019s a director that just by doing rehearsals and some work on the script so far, I love working with, collaborating with. He\u2019s a very young director. I think he\u2019s brilliant.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cBenicio del Toro, who if you haven\u2019t seen in One Battle After Another, please go because he is unbelievable as always. So, I\u2019m doing that with him and Cameron Diaz\u2026 We\u2019re going to be filming in January,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAsked for details, she said: \u201cIt\u2019s top secret.
