KERR COUNTY, Texas \u2014 It’s a frantic 911 call from one of the Eastlands, the family that owns Camp Mystic.<\/p>\n
The call is short, but he is clear about the tragedy unfolding at the all-girls camp along the Guadalupe River. His call came in at 7:22 a.m., the first from camp management that we have found so far.<\/p>\n
In the recording, the caller identifies himself as camp director Britt Eastland and tells the dispatcher they need help immediately:<\/p>\n
“Here at Camp Mystic in Hunt. We need search and rescue. Okay, what’s going on? We’re missing as many as 20 to 40 people,<\/p>\n
Okay, sir, what is your name?<\/p>\n
My name is Britt Eastland. I’m a director here at Camp Mystic.”<\/p>\n
Camp Mystic has said it plans to reopen next year.<\/p>\n
In all, 25 girls, as young as 8 years old, and their 18-year-old counselors died that day. One little girl, 8-year-old Cile Steward, is still missing.<\/p>\n
