Jennifer Meyer got candid about how she and Tobey Maguire approached their divorce after they separated in 2016<\/p>\n<\/li>\n
“It was not easy every day, and I’m sure he would say the same thing,” Meyer said, noting that she now considers him “my best friend”<\/p>\n<\/li>\n

Jennifer Meyer<\/a> is reflecting on her divorce with Tobey Maguire<\/a> and how well they get along over nine years after they separated.<\/p>\n Meyer, 48, appeared on the Monday, Dec. 1 episode of the The Inside Edit<\/a> podcast with host Maeve Reilly<\/a>, a celebrity stylist and one of Meyer’s close friends.<\/p>\n During the episode, they spoke about their shared experience with the same couples therapist, and Meyer explained how Gwyneth Paltrow<\/a> helped her realize that divorcing from Maguire, 50, could prove beneficial for their family in the long run.<\/p>\n “I actually think that my divorce has been one of my greatest teachers, because it teaches you patience,” Meyer said.<\/p>\n She and Spider-Man star Maguire married in 2007 and separated in 2016<\/a>; she filed for divorce<\/a> from the actor, with whom she shares daughter Ruby, 19, and son Otis, 16<\/a>, in 2020.<\/p>\n “Our daughter was 10 or something. Those are some intense times that you need to stay connected. And then we had a son who was 7,” she recalled. “It’s like you’re raising kids at an intense time. But he is wonderful and I got lucky for that. Paltrow introduced Meyer to Dr. Habib Sadeghi for insight<\/a> into handling divorce.<\/p>\n “Everyone was making fun of conscious uncoupling at the time, but joke’s on them. Joke’s on those people making fun of it,” Meyer said. “I called [Sadeghi] and then I had to say to Tobey, ‘Hey, we’re going to go to couple’s therapy.’ “<\/p>\n “I now have an ex-husband who is my best friend and would do anything for me, and I would do anything for him,” she added. “Anything in the world.”<\/p>\n Stefanie Keenan\/Getty<\/p>\n Tobey Maguire and Jennifer Meyer on Dec. 7, 2017<\/p>\n The Inside Edit host Reilly agreed with Meyer and said Maguire is “supportive and lovely and the best dad.”<\/p>\n Meyer called Maguire “the best dad, the best ex-husband, the best friend, the most generous” and said he and her fianc\u00e9 Geoffrey Ogunlesi<\/a> “love each other so much.”<\/p>\n Meyer said she, Ogunlesi and her two children all stayed with Maguire and one of the actor’s friends during the wildfires in Los Angeles in January. “It was the greatest,” she said. “Every day I would walk in and I’d be like, ‘I’m so lucky,’ and then I’d come home at night and Tobey and Geoff and his best friend would be watching a movie on the couch. I’d be like ‘How?
