Walnut Hill Lane. The site is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/real-estate\/2024\/04\/10\/caterpillar-to-expand-d-fw-headquarters\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/real-estate\/2024\/04\/10\/caterpillar-to-expand-d-fw-headquarters\/\">roughly three miles from its current headquarters in Williams Square<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The additional building will provide more workspace and a place to host dealers, customers and visitors, the firm said in a news release.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Details of the transaction were not disclosed. The property was once the headquarters for jewelry retailer Zales.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Coppell-based office furniture and equipment firm <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/real-estate\/2019\/06\/17\/first-look-turning-former-zales-office-campus-in-las-colinas-into-new-flexible-workplace\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/real-estate\/2019\/06\/17\/first-look-turning-former-zales-office-campus-in-las-colinas-into-new-flexible-workplace\/\">Varidesk purchased the former Zales property<\/a> in 2019. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The property is valued at $51.5 million for tax purposes. Such valuations often trail market values.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Built in 1982, the three-building former Zales complex in Las Colinas contains more than 400,000 square feet of office space. The property also includes a four-level parking garage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">At one time, the office building housed almost 3,000 workers, according to previous Dallas Morning News reporting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Caterpillar moved its global headquarters from Deerfield, Ill., to Dallas-Fort Worth in 2022. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The Fortune 500 company has over 800 employees at Williams Square and roughly 6,600 statewide. The firm has had a presence in Texas since the 1960s.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Caterpillar reported $64.8 billion in sales and revenue in 2024.
