SAN ANTONIO \u2014 A 15-year-old boy was taken into custody on Wednesday afternoon after authorities said he fired a gun inside an apartment and attempted to get away by jumping from a second-story window at a Northwest Side apartment complex.<\/p>\n
The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. at an apartment complex off Mickjohn Walk near North Zarzamora Street.<\/p>\n
Police said they were at the apartment to execute a search warrant when they saw someone run into a back bedroom and shut the door. Moments later, a gunshot was heard from inside the room.<\/p>\n
Investigators said the teenager then leapt from a second-floor window and fled on foot, carrying a rifle. He attempted to enter a nearby apartment in a separate building but was unsuccessful.<\/p>\n
Detectives apprehended the boy shortly thereafter. The rifle was recovered on the street near a staircase where the teenager had been seen running. Probation officers at the scene reported witnessing the youth discard the firearm before ascending the stairs.<\/p>\n
Due to his age, authorities have not released the suspect\u2019s name.<\/p>\n
