{"id":42956,"date":"2025-07-06T08:54:25","date_gmt":"2025-07-06T08:54:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/42956\/"},"modified":"2025-07-06T08:54:25","modified_gmt":"2025-07-06T08:54:25","slug":"carney-says-trumps-multiple-objectives-demand-nimble-trade-talk-strategy-national","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/42956\/","title":{"rendered":"Carney says Trump\u2019s multiple objectives demand \u2018nimble\u2019 trade talk strategy &#8211; National"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Prime Minister <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/tag\/mark-carney\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mark Carney<\/a> says as he continues to negotiate a new security and <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/tag\/trade\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">trade<\/a> deal with the U.S., he\u2019s staying \u201cnimble,\u201d as he says Canada\u2019s southern neighbour has \u201cmultiple\u201d objectives for its talks with various countries, including what could benefit its revenue and budget.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/70c8fc80.png\" alt=\"\" style=\"position:absolute;width:1px;height:1px\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen the person you\u2019re dealing with, the country you\u2019re dealing with has multiple objectives, jumps around a bit and you\u2019ve got to be nimble,\u201d Carney told Global News\u2019 Joel Senick in a one-on-one interview at the Calgary Stampede.<\/p>\n<p>Carney said from his perspective, U.S. President  is juggling several factors, ranging from China to trade to the country\u2019s overall finances.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome of it\u2019s strategic competition with China. The goal under the bill is to approve such projects within two years.<\/p>\n<p>Trump and Carney\u2019s goal of reaching a deal by July 21 is swiftly approaching, and while he spoke about the objectives Trump has with his trade talks, the prime minister said they\u2019re looking at two things to help Canadian workers and the economy in those discussions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe first is, of course, access to the U.S. market, access we have as closely as possible as we do have today under current trading arrangements. It won\u2019t be exactly the same but as close as possible,\u201d he said. \u201cBut also stability; stability and greater certainty.
