{"id":429785,"date":"2025-12-06T23:21:31","date_gmt":"2025-12-06T23:21:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/429785\/"},"modified":"2025-12-06T23:21:31","modified_gmt":"2025-12-06T23:21:31","slug":"mayor-adams-says-hes-cooperating-in-city-corruption-watchdog-probe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/429785\/","title":{"rendered":"Mayor Adams says he&#8217;s cooperating in city corruption watchdog probe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mayor Adams has been cooperating with the city <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2025\/12\/04\/nyc-watchdog-agency-investigating-adams-to-get-evidence-from-federal-corruption-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">corruption watchdog\u2019s investigation into <\/a>possible violations of ethics laws, his spokesperson said Friday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a non-criminal, ethics review, and the Mayor is fully confident it will show he followed the law,\u201d Todd Shapiro said of the Department of Investigation\u2019s probe. \u201cThe federal case was dismissed because the allegations had no merit. Mayor Adams respects DOI\u2019s process and will continue to cooperate. His focus remains on serving New Yorkers and delivering results.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Adams\u2019 federal corruption indictment was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/2025\/04\/02\/federal-judge-ho-dismisses-public-corruption-case-against-mayor-adams-with-prejudice\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dropped in April<\/a> by Trump\u2019s Justice Department. The DOJ\u2019s dismissal motion didn\u2019t weigh in on the merits of the prosecution against Adams, instead writing that the charges impeded the mayor from carrying out aspects of President Trump\u2019s mass deportation agenda in New York.<\/p>\n<p>In April, the Manhattan Federal Judge Dale Ho wrote that the terms of the dismissal \u201csmacks of a bargain\u201d but\u00a0 dropped the case \u201cwith prejudice,\u201d meaning the feds cannot prosecute Adams again for the same alleged crimes.<\/p>\n<p>The mayor has maintained he did nothing wrong.<\/p>\n<p>DOI got the green light from Ho earlier this week to obtain evidence that the Manhattan U.S. attorney\u2019s office used to bring the since-dismissed charges against Adams.
