Pantone has chosen its 2026 Color of the Year<\/a> \u2014 and it’s sparked quite the online debate.<\/p>\n On Dec. 4, the global color authority introduced the defining shade of the year to come: Cloud Dancer (PANTONE 11-4201), which they described on Instagram<\/a> as a “lofty white neutral whose aerated presence acts as a whisper of calm and peace in a noisy world.”<\/p>\n The company’s vice president, Laurie Pressman, said in a 2023\u00a0interview<\/a>\u00a0that the Color of the Year initiative \u2014 which has taken place annually since 1999 \u2014 was created as an “educational program” to “engage the design community and color enthusiasts around the world in a conversation around color.”<\/p>\n “We wanted to draw attention to the relationship between culture and color,” Pressman continued. “We wanted to highlight to our audience how what is taking place in our global culture is expressed and reflected through the language of color.”<\/p>\n This year, however, the selected hue is proving especially divisive.
