The $1B threshold will be crossed within the next week.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAfter setting a number of records last weekend, the continued runaway performance for the Jared Bush- and Byron Howard-directed movie has also achieved new milestones with the sophomore session. With this weekend\u2019s numbers, Zootopia 2 has become the No. 3 Hollywood release of 2025 worldwide and No. 1 internationally. In <strong>China<\/strong>, Z2, at $430.4M, is also now the No. 2 studio movie ever in the market, behind only Avengers: Endgame.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>Japan<\/strong> was new this frame, opening at No. 1 with $12.3M for the 2nd best start ever for a Hollywood movie, behind only Frozen 2.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tWeekend two offshore came in at <strong>$219M<\/strong> in 52 material markets. The overall drop was 40% (-27% excluding China),\u00a0with standout holds in key markets including Vietnam (+45%), Taiwan (+13%), Brazil (-16%), Germany (-18%), France (-27%), Korea (-27%), Australia (-28%), Spain (-28%), UK (-34%), Italy (-38%), China (-45%), and Mexico (-46%). <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tZ2 is the highest Walt Disney Animation Studios release ever in China and Vietnam; and has surpassed the total cume of Zootopia in China, Korea, Mexico and Brazil as well as a host of other markets including Poland, Egypt, Turkey, UAE, Ukraine, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Colombia and Central America.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe Top 5 through weekend 2 are: <strong>China<\/strong> ($430.4M), <strong>France<\/strong> ($27.3M), <strong>Korea<\/strong> ($25.6M), <strong>Mexico<\/strong> ($18.6M) and <strong>Germany<\/strong> ($16.2M).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tIn Imax, the global total is $49.2M.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tZ2 this weekend also pushes Disney across the $5B mark at the global box office ($5.102B) for 2025. The Walt Disney Studios is the\u00a0first and only\u00a0studio to hit this mark this year, and the only studio to achieve it in\u00a0back-to-back years. It\u2019s also the studio\u2019s\u00a0third time since 2018.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tNew player, Universal\/Blumhouse-Atomic Monster\u2019s Five Nights at Freddy\u2019s 2, grossed <strong>$109.1M<\/strong> worldwide in its debut, coming in well above pre-weekend projections. The international estimate is <strong>$46.1M<\/strong> from 76 markets, below\u00a0Five Nights at Freddy\u2019s, above\u00a0Final Destination Bloodlines\u00a0and\u00a0Annabelle Comes Home, and more than double\u00a0Smile 2, excluding previews.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>Mexico<\/strong>, which was the top international market for the first Freddy\u2019s, went back to the haunted pizza parlor to deliver a No. 1 $6.9M in its launch frame. This is the\u00a02nd\u00a0biggest horror opening of the year\u00a0(behind\u00a0Conjuring: Last Rites) and both the\u00a02nd\u00a0biggest Universal horror opening ever\u00a0and the\u00a02nd\u00a0biggest Blumhouse opening of all time\u00a0(both behind\u00a0FNAF the first).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe\u00a0<strong>UK &amp; Ireland\u00a0<\/strong>grossed $4.4M, across 850 screens, in the No. 2 spot. The weekend\u2019s result came in just above\u00a0FNAF\u2019s 3-day bow.\u00a0The 3-day gross, excluding previews, also makes FNAF2 Uni\u2019s highest-grossing Horror opening of all time, surpassing the first FNAF.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tIn\u00a0<strong>Brazil<\/strong>,\u00a0FNAF2\u00a0opened to $3.2M at No. 1 with the second-biggest opening day for a Horror film of the year\u00a0on Thursday. An opening weekend of this level is\u00a0just off\u00a0Five Nights at Freddy\u2019s, well above\u00a0Final Destination Bloodlines,\u00a0and more than double\u00a0Annabelle Comes Home\u00a0and\u00a0Black Phone 2. This is further Universal\u2019s biggest December opening ever in the market and its 2nd best for a horror title.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>Spain\u00a0<\/strong>did $2.9M at\u00a0No. 2, performing above\u00a0Five Nights at Freddy\u2019s.\u00a0The weekend is the 2nd best for horror this year and tops ever for Blumhouse (excluding previews).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<strong>Australia<\/strong> debuted at No. 2 with $2.4M, for the 2nd\u00a0biggest horror opening of the year\u00a0(behind\u00a0Conjuring: Last Rites),\u00a02nd\u00a0biggest Blumhouse opening of all time\u00a0(behind\u00a0FNAF) and the\u00a03rd\u00a0biggest Universal horror opening ever (behind\u00a0Us\u00a0and\u00a0FNAF).<\/p>\n<p>Japan is still to release, on January 23.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tMeanwhile, Universal\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/wicked-for-good\/\" id=\"auto-tag_wicked-for-good\" data-tag=\"wicked-for-good\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wicked: For Good<\/a>, which <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/12\/wicked-for-good-global-box-office-milestone-1236635920\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">crossed $400M global earlier this week<\/a>, added $13.4M from 80 overseas markets this session. That takes the running offshore cume to <strong>$143.2M<\/strong> and worldwide to <strong>$440.1M<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe Top 5 to date for Elphaba and Glinda are: <strong>UK<\/strong> ($49.4M), <strong>Australia<\/strong> ($16.2M), <strong>Germany<\/strong> ($8M), <strong>Korea<\/strong> ($6M) and <strong>Mexico<\/strong> ($6M).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tChina opens on December 24 and Japan on March 6.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAnd, on another magical note, Lionsgate\u2019s Now You See Me, Now You Don\u2019t\u00a0crossed the two-century mark this week, now at $210M worldwide.
