Thriller \u201cOne Battle After Another\u201d and family drama \u201cSentimental Value\u201d are likely to be among the top contenders when nominations are announced Monday for the 83rd annual Golden Globe Awards, kicking Hollywood\u2019s awards season into high gear.<\/p>\n
\u201cSentimental Value\u201d is a likely nominee for best motion picture drama, as are films such as \u201cSinners,\u201d \u201cFrankenstein,\u201d \u201cHamnet,\u201d \u201cThe Secret Agent\u201d and \u201cIt Was Just an Accident.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cOne Battle After Another\u201d \u2014 which could wind up as the top film nominee thanks to an all-star cast featuring Leonardo DiCaprio, Benicio del Toro, Sean Penn and Chase Infiniti \u2014 is a lock to be nominated for best motion picture musical or comedy. Other likely nominees include \u201cMarty Supreme,\u201d \u201cBugonia,\u201d \u201cWicked: For Good\u201d and \u201cJay Kelly.\u201d<\/p>\n
All 28 Golden Globe categories \u2014 covering both film and television \u2014 will have six nominees this year, with the exception of Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, which will have eight. The nominations will be announced in a streaming format by actor\/comedian Marlon Wayans and actress\/philanthropist Skye P. Marshall.<\/p>\n
The announcement will be streamed by CBS News beginning at 5:15 a.m. Pacific time.<\/p>\n
On the small screen, awards season regulars \u201cThe Bear,\u201d \u201cHacks,\u201d \u201cAbbott Elementary\u201d and \u201cOnly Murders in the Building\u201d are likely to land in the best comedy series race, along with newcomer and Emmy record-setter \u201cThe Studio.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cSeverance\u201d is a virtual lock for a best drama series nod, with other major contenders including \u201cThe White Lotus,\u201d \u201cThe Pitt,\u201d \u201cPluribus,\u201d \u201cAndor\u201d and \u201cThe Last of Us.\u201d<\/p>\n
But Netflix\u2019s \u201cAdolescence\u201d is likely to be the big television nominee, almost certain to grab a nod for best limited series or movie. Other likely contenders in the category include \u201cBlack Mirror,\u201d \u201cDope Thief,\u201d \u201cSirens\u201d and \u201cDying for Sex.\u201d<\/p>\n
