Four permits have been issued to construct three-unit residences on the 1100 block of South Western Avenue in the Tri-Taylor<\/a> neighborhood on the city\u2019s Near West Side. The four identical permits, assigned to 1106, 1108, 1110, and 1114 South Western, were all applied for on August 8 of this year, and they all came through on December 2 with reported costs of $661,950 each.<\/p>\n

All four buildings are to be three stories without basements. Stairways at the back of each structure will connect porches on the two upper levels with the first-floor patios. Concrete pads off the alley behind the buildings will hold three parking spaces apiece.<\/p>\n

Eco Development is the developer and general contractor, with Hanna Architects as the architect of record. This same team has worked together on this block already, completing similar projects at 1100, 1102, and 1104 South Western, all of which were permitted for construction<\/a> in June 2021. The latest four permits will extend the row of homes to the middle of the block between West Fillmore and West Grenshaw Streets. A modest single-story building, the former home of a used car dealer, will require a demolition permit to clear the site.<\/p>\n

There is a live real estate listing for one of the units in the first three buildings, but it is not clear if all the units are rentals, or if a condo owner is leasing out a unit.<\/p>\n

Residents of 1100-1114 South Western Avenue live within a two-block walk of several CTA bus routes. Route 49 and 157 make stops half a block north at Western and Taylor. Two blocks south, Routes 12 and X49 stop at the intersection of Western and Roosevelt Road. For rail travel, the Western Blue Line platform is half a mile north at the Eisenhower Expressway; the northbound 49 buses can be used to connect to those L trains.<\/p>\n
