{"id":432376,"date":"2025-12-08T03:16:12","date_gmt":"2025-12-08T03:16:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/432376\/"},"modified":"2025-12-08T03:16:12","modified_gmt":"2025-12-08T03:16:12","slug":"government-will-not-extend-energy-bill-relief","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/432376\/","title":{"rendered":"Government will not extend energy bill relief"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The federal government&#8217;s subsidy for electricity bills will not be extended into next year, Jim Chalmers has announced.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The discount of $75 per quarter for all households will instead end in December as planned, in what the treasurer said was a &#8220;hard&#8221; decision made by the cabinet in recognition of &#8220;pressure on the budget&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;We&#8217;ve been up-front with people and said that these were never going to be a permanent feature of the budget,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The subsidy, which began in mid-2023, was directly applied to energy bills and was complemented by subsidies from state and territory governments.
