The alignment makes the Moon appear larger and brighter than average, sometimes up to 30% brigther like we saw with the Super Beaver Moon in November.<\/p>\n<p>The December full moon is traditionally known as the Cold Moon, a name rooted in early winter weather patterns in the Northern Hemisphere. When a supermoon and the seasonal Cold Moon fall on the same night, the event is often referred to as a Cold Supermoon.<\/p>\n<p>For the Southeast, moonrise is expected just after 6 p.m. on Thursday, coinciding closely with the moment the Moon reaches its full phase. Specifically for Jacksonville it will be around 6:14PM.
