A backyard dispute between two brothers escalated into fatal gunfire, leaving a girlfriend dead after she was shot several times in the crossfire, police say.<\/p>\n
SAN ANTONIO \u2014 The San Antonio Police Department is on the scene where a woman is dead after a shooting broke out between two brothers in a north-side backyard.<\/p>\n
Around 4 p.m., SAPD responded to the 200 block of Gazel Drive after receiving reports of a shooting.<\/p>\n
Preliminary information from SAPD suggests four people were hanging out in the backyard, two brothers a wife and a girlfriend, when a fight between the brothers broke out.<\/p>\n
SAPD said the brothers had a history of arguing but today went too far when one brother allegedly saw the other reaching for something before he pulled out his own gun and opened fire.<\/p>\n
The one brother and his girlfriend were struck several times, according to SAPD.<\/p>\n
The wife was taken in for questioning as she was the only witness and the brother who was shot is in stable condition and cooperating with police.<\/p>\n
SAPD said the girlfriend unfortunately did not survive the shooting.<\/p>\n
The brother is facing charges for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and murder, but SAPD charges could be upgraded following further investigation.<\/p>\n
