{"id":434054,"date":"2025-12-08T20:46:19","date_gmt":"2025-12-08T20:46:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/434054\/"},"modified":"2025-12-08T20:46:19","modified_gmt":"2025-12-08T20:46:19","slug":"netflix-owned-hbo-wont-have-to-do-gymnastics-to-make-general-entertainment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/434054\/","title":{"rendered":"Netflix-Owned HBO Won\u2019t Have To Do \u201cGymnastics\u201d To Make General Entertainment"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/hbo\/\" id=\"auto-tag_hbo\" data-tag=\"hbo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HBO<\/a> has been increasingly getting into the blockbuster business with series such as <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/dune-prophecy\/\" id=\"auto-tag_dune-prophecy\" data-tag=\"dune-prophecy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dune: Prophecy<\/a> and It: Welcome To Derry and upcoming titles including <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/lanterns\/\" id=\"auto-tag_lanterns\" data-tag=\"lanterns\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lanterns<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/harry-potter\/\" id=\"auto-tag_harry-potter\" data-tag=\"harry-potter\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Harry Potter<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tBut <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/netflix\/\" id=\"auto-tag_netflix\" data-tag=\"netflix\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Netflix<\/a> wants the brand to focus on \u201cprestige TV\u201d with co-CEO saying it will no longer have to do \u201cgymnastics to make themselves into a general entertainment brand\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tSpeaking at the UBS Global Media and Communications Conference, Sarandos said, \u201cThis is a prestige television brand that people really love. I would say that they have been doing gymnastics to make themselves into a general entertainment brand and I think under this transaction, they don\u2019t have to do that anymore. We\u2019re already a very well established general entertainment brand, and we want HBO to double down on the things that people have loved for 50 years about HBO.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tHe added that these \u201cassets work better in our business model and our business model works better with these assets\u201d.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tCo-CEO Greg Peters, also speaking at the event, said, \u201cHBO is an incredible brand with an incredible history. It speaks prestige TV. We want to double down on that concept.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe pair\u2019s comments suggest that once a deal closes, HBO will focus on projects like True Detective, The White Lotus, Game of Thrones spinoffs such as House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, as well as comedies such as The Rehearsal, The Chair Company and I Love LA, while Netflix will be the home for the DC Studios titles and series based on broad IP.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe streamer, which will be fighting off a rival hostile bid from Paramount for ownership of Warner Bros.
