{"id":434502,"date":"2025-12-09T01:26:10","date_gmt":"2025-12-09T01:26:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/434502\/"},"modified":"2025-12-09T01:26:10","modified_gmt":"2025-12-09T01:26:10","slug":"superman-star-david-corenswet-says-philly-theater-background-prepared-him-for-role","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/434502\/","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Superman&#8217; star David Corenswet says Philly theater background prepared him for role"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>David Corenswet said growing up in Philly&#8217;s theater scene influenced his acting style today and prepared him for his starring role in &#8220;Superman.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Corenswet,\u00a0a graduate of the\u00a0Shipley School\u00a0in Bryn Mawr\u00a0who performed at the\u00a0Upper Darby Summer Stage,\u00a0sat down with &#8220;Wicked: For Good&#8221; star Jonathan Bailey in an <a data-original-title=\"\" href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/film\/features\/jonathan-bailey-david-corenswet-wicked-superman-sexiest-man-alive-1236597616\/\" title=\"\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interview<\/a> published Sunday\u00a0as a part of Variety&#8217;s annual &#8220;Actors on Actors&#8221; series.\u00a0They discussed their roles in blockbuster films, a shared passion for theater and kissing scenes.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><b>MORE<\/b>:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.phillyvoice.com\/golden-globe-nominees-2026-podcasts-call-her-daddy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alex Cooper&#8217;s &#8216;Call Her Daddy&#8217; podcast nominated for new Golden Globe Award<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Corenswet, 32,\u00a0got his start more than two decades ago in a local production of &#8220;All My Sons,&#8221; where he said he first fell in love with acting.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;All my memories of the theater are me sitting in the audience watching rehearsals or watching the run after my scenes were done,&#8221; he said. &#8220;That in-person, immediate impact was quite intoxicating for a 9-year-old kid.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Corenswet, who still lives in the Philly suburbs with his wife and nearly 2-year-old daughter, said his theatrical training taught him valuable lessons that carried over into his time filming &#8220;Superman.&#8221; Bailey, who also got his start on the stage, praised Corenswet&#8217;s long dialogues with Rachel Brosnahan, who plays Lois Lane, the superhero&#8217;s love interest.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We rehearsed them like theater scenes,&#8221; Corenswet said. &#8220;That was when I realized that I had not done a deal with the devil in taking this big role.
