The DIA said 22Bet seemed to have wound down its New Zealand advertising after the formal notice and \u201cnegative media attention\u201d.<\/p>\n
Jackpot City took prompt action to comply with the notice, the DIA said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are currently monitoring 20Bet and Leo Vegas\u2019 responses to our recent notices,\u201d Mark Batt, DIA branch performance director, said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe department monitors companies operating in the international grey market on an ongoing basis,\u201c he added.<\/p>\n

Batt said the DIA could take steps beyond issuing formal withdrawal notices.<\/p>\n
\u201cRecently, we wrote to all national sporting organisations to remind them of the prohibition on overseas gambling advertising.\u201d<\/p>\n
The DIA said that was especially relevant for visiting teams or competitors, who may otherwise have gambling sponsorship on their kits.<\/p>\n
\u201cEarlier this year, we issued 12 infringement notices to Spinbet, totalling $60,000, for sponsoring social media posts by New Zealand influencers.\u201d<\/p>\n
The DIA has also fined influencers and issued warnings to other users about the penalties for promoting gambling on social media.<\/p>\n
Millie Elder-Holmes, Calen Morris, Billy Whaanga and Tuhira Wana received multiple $5000 fines.<\/p>\n
Another area of enforcement related to a ban on entities other than the TAB offering sports and racing betting in New Zealand.<\/p>\n
The ban took effect at the end of June.<\/p>\n
\u201cSince then, we have issued over 20 withdrawal notices to companies suspected of transacting with New Zealand customers, regardless of whether they were advertising directly,\u201d Batt said.<\/p>\n
Some influencers, including M\u0101ori social media personality Paaka Davis, have rejected approaches<\/a> from offshore gambling sites.<\/p>\n Online casino licences will be issued for three years under a new regime, due to start in February.<\/p>\n
