The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles (spcaLA) is seeking the public\u2019s help in wake of its current pet food shortage, it said Monday.<\/p>\n

The nonprofit organization, which helps animals in need, is asking do-gooders to help replenish its pet food supplies after a variety of factors caused it to deplete. According to the organization, a proliferation of puppies, intakes from hoarding conditions and an increase in dogs surrendered by their owners have contributed to the food shortage.<\/p>\n

“Hunger is a topic front-of-mind for many in our community. Animals are not immune,” Madeline Bernstein, spcaLA President, said in a statement. “Shelter pets come here hungry, malnourished, and often injured or sick. An essential part of their recovery is proper nutrition and feeding. We need help to keep them well-nourished and healthy.”<\/p>\n
