\n\tThe Oscar-winning\u00a0Milo\u0161 Forman<\/a>-directed movie\u00a0One Flew Over the Cuckoo\u2019s Nest, starring Jack Nicholson, could get the television treatment. <\/p>\n

\n\tProducer Paul Zaentz<\/a>, the nephew of the Hollywood classic\u2019s original producer Saul Zaentz, mentioned plans for a series during a press conference at the\u00a059th edition<\/a>\u00a0of the\u00a0Karlovy Vary International Film Festival<\/a>\u00a0(KVIFF<\/a>), in which he appeared with Cuckoo\u2019s Nest producer and Hollywood legend Michael Douglas<\/a>. The two traveled to the Czech spa town to present a newly restored version of the 1975 classic as it celebrates its 50th anniversary this year.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe movie is based on\u00a0the 1962 novel of the same name\u00a0by\u00a0Ken Kesey about a new patient at a\u00a0mental institution.\u00a0Louise Fletcher\u00a0portrays the domineering head nurse Ratched.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cOver the last 50 years, there have been hundreds of calls from studios, directors, and producers who want to remake the movie, and we would never allow it to be remade if they were just going to do it as Milo\u0161 made it,\u201d Zaentz shared. \u201cIt would be a dishonor.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBut he also had some exciting news to share. \u201cWe just made an arrangement with Ken Kesey\u2019s family to possibly do a television series, but it\u2019s based on the book, and the book was told through the eyes of Chief Bromden,\u201d the tall,\u00a0deaf-mute\u00a0Native American\u00a0portrayed in the movie by Will Sampson, Zaentz told reporters. \u201cSo the television series would be through his eyes.\u201d <\/p>\n

\n\tHe signaled how he envisions the story arc. \u201cAt the end of the first [season], the R.P. McMurphy, the Jack Nicholson, character would die. And then the second year would be what happens to the Chief after he escapes.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tDanny DeVito,\u00a0Sydney Lassick,\u00a0William Redfield,\u00a0Christopher Lloyd\u00a0and\u00a0Brad Dourif\u00a0played supporting roles in the movie.<\/p>\n
