Kate Winslet is a beloved, Oscar-winning actress who has appeared in a host of acclaimed movies and TV series, from Titanic to Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Avatar: The Way of Water, Steve Jobs and Mare of Easttown, among countless others. But in an appearance on The Graham Norton Show over the weekend, the elegant star reverted to what she called her usual line of \u201cpoo bum\u201d themed stories on the chat show while regaling the panel with a never-before-told tale about the time Eminem<\/a> asked her to shave his privates.<\/p>\n

Recalling the time in October 2004 when she was booked to host Saturday Night Live with musical guest Eminem to promote her then-new movie Finding Neverland, Winslet said she had the unfortunate timing to appear on the show the week after Ashlee Simpson\u2019s legendary lip synch fiasco<\/a>, admitting that she was \u201cabsolutely terrified\u201d to host the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m then on with Eminem. I was doing publicity for a film called\u00a0Finding Neverland\u00a0at the time and Johnny Depp and I had to miss the Wednesday rehearsal because we had to go to Chicago and talk to Oprah,\u201d Winslet said. \u201cAnd I\u2019m thinking, \u2018Oh my God, what\u2019s the opening monologue going to be?\u2019\u201d The show\u2019s famously frenetic prep week kept her guessing well into Wednesday night, with producers telling her that they were still \u201cfiguring out\u201d what her monologue would look like.<\/p>\n

The next day they still seemingly had no idea, and instead peppered Winslet with questions about whether she could sing or tap dance, to which she replied, \u2018Yeah, yeah, I do it.’\u201d In the end, she had just 24 hours to learn her opening bit. \u201cI\u2019m tap dancing and singing fully live the week after the whole Ashlee Simpson thing,\u201d she continued before seemingly surprising Norton and his team with a a never-before-told story that was not shared in the pre-interview.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a story I\u2019ve never, never told,\u201d she warned. \u201cEminem asked me to shave his bottom,\u201d she explained about the inexplicable request she claimed came from Marshall that week. Norton seemed shocked and recovered long enough to ask if the rapper asked her to use a hand-held razor on his \u201cAss Like That.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe did! He said, \u2018would you shave my butt?,’\u201d she recalled of the weirdly intimate plea. \u201cAnd I said, \u2018I\u2019m sorry, I don\u2019t, I don\u2019t do personal grooming.\u2019 What? I\u2019m not going to go with a Bic and get your crack love,’\u201d she added, miming the process of derriere depilation.<\/p>\n

Sadly, Winslet provided no context for the story of her first, and so far, only SNL hosting gig and video of that episode is not available on Peacock. But, rest assured, Slim Shady kept his unshaved backside fully covered during performances of \u201cMosh\u201d and \u201cJust Lose It\u201d on the show. Winslet\u2019s Christmas-themed directorial debut, Goodbye June, which was written by her son, Joe Anders, will hit theaters on Friday (Dec. 12) and Netflix on Dec. 24.<\/p>\n
