The Philadelphia Eagles<\/a> suffered another brutal loss on Monday night \u2014 and in the process, their chances at securing the NFC\u2019s No. 1 overall seed in the playoffs were all but put to rest. <\/p>\n

The Eagles are now 8-5 after suffering their third loss in a row, this time in overtime against the Los Angeles Chargers in front of a national \u201cMonday Night Football\u201d audience. <\/p>\n

Everyone watching saw that Jalen Hurts, Kevin Patullo and the Eagles are a far cry from the NFC\u2019s best team. The numbers bear that out, too.<\/p>\n

The Eagles have a less than 1% chance to secure the No. 1 seed in the NFC postseason, according to The Athletic\u2019s updated projection model<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The Los Angeles Rams (10-3) lead the way with a 48% chance at the first-round bye and home-field advantage. Behind them are the Seattle Seahawks (10-3, 28%), followed by the Green Bay Packers (9-3-1, 10%), San Francisco 49ers (9-4, 8%) and Chicago Bears (9-4, 4%).<\/p>\n

The good news is the Eagles have a 92% chance to win the NFC East and make the playoffs, according to The Athletic\u2019s model. <\/p>\n

Philadelphia\u2019s magic number \u2014 combined Eagles wins and Dallas Cowboys losses \u2014 is three to clinch the division. It would be the first time since 2004 that a team won back-to-back NFC East crowns. <\/p>\n

The Eagles also have the third-easiest schedule the rest of the way, according to Tankathon<\/a>. <\/p>\n

The Birds face the Las Vegas Raiders (2-11) on Sunday with two games against the Washington Commanders (3-10) and a trip to face the Buffalo Bills (9-4) coming up. <\/p>\n

The problem is, the Eagles haven\u2019t given anyone confidence that they\u2019ll finish the season strong \u2014 or do anything of note in the playoffs if\/when they make it. <\/p>\n

Perhaps they can get some momentum going when they host the Raiders on Sunday afternoon at Lincoln Financial Field.
