The Beekeeper actor has honed his body to stay in incredible shape, even at 58. And the go-to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/workouts\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/workouts\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"workout\" data-node-id=\"2.3\" class=\"body-link css-1d8p8n5 emevuu60\" rel=\"noopener\">workout<\/a> behind his impressive rig for the upcoming action thriller is shorter than you might expect.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"5\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">For the preparation for The Beekeeper, which soon has a sequel on the way, Statham teamed up with two-time taekwondo national campion and former UFC welterweight <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/jmoontasri\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/jmoontasri\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"James Moontasri\" data-node-id=\"5.3\" class=\"body-link css-1d8p8n5 emevuu60\">James Moontasri<\/a>. Twelve weeks before filming began, the coach and actor trained rigorously. <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"7\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Talking to Men&#8217;s Journal, Moontasri says, &#8216;Jason stays in phenomenal shape year round on his own, so he showed up in a great place. That makes my job easy and, in the end, when it comes to Jason, I\u2019m just there to help him execute on what he already knows.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"12\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/building-muscle\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/building-muscle\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"Training\" data-node-id=\"12.0\" class=\"body-link css-1d8p8n5 emevuu60\" rel=\"noopener\">Training<\/a> would begin at 5am and would include jiu jitsu and boxing, &#8216;Sometimes, there wouldn\u2019t need to be words exchanged between us,&#8217; says Moontasri. &#8216;I could just tell when he wanted to start by hitting something, and I\u2019d pick up the pads.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"14\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">&#8216;The benefit of working with someone like Jason, who\u2019s skilled in martial arts, is we can train for three or four hours without anyone getting bored.&#8217; Moontasri continued to mention they would practice stunt drills Statham would perform during filming. &#8216;Jason likes to execute everything he does to perfection. He\u2019s got a routine he\u2019ll do on his own before we work together, and it\u2019s pretty intense. I think being able to push yourself in isolation is a massive advantage.&#8217;<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"19\" class=\"body-text css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">The following training is an example of the workouts Statham and Moontasri did prepping for The Beekeeper. You&#8217;ll need a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/gym-wear\/g34847432\/best-pull-up-bars\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/gym-wear\/g34847432\/best-pull-up-bars\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"pull-up bar\" data-node-id=\"19.3\" class=\"body-link css-1d8p8n5 emevuu60\" rel=\"noopener\">pull-up bar<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/gym-wear\/g35508904\/best-rowing-machines\/\" target=\"_blank\" data-vars-ga-outbound-link=\"https:\/\/www.menshealth.com\/uk\/gym-wear\/g35508904\/best-rowing-machines\/\" data-vars-ga-ux-element=\"Hyperlink\" data-vars-ga-call-to-action=\"rowing machine\" data-node-id=\"19.5\" class=\"body-link css-1d8p8n5 emevuu60\" rel=\"noopener\">rowing machine<\/a>, and a Swiss ball.<\/p>\n<p>Jason Statham&#8217;s Core Workout<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"23\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Perform the A block for 4 rounds, completing the prescribed reps, time, or distance for each movement. Keep rest tight: 15 seconds between exercises and 1 minute before starting the next round.<\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"25\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">After that, move on to the Swiss ball B block. Again, work through 4 rounds, spending 45 seconds on each exercise with 15 seconds\u2019 rest in-between, and taking 2 minutes before beginning the next round. Hang with arms straight, then pull your chest toward the bar by driving elbows down. Lower under control to a full hang before repeating.<\/p>\n<p>A2. Finish the pull with elbows close to the ribs. <\/p>\n<p>A3. Shadow Boxing <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"46\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Stay light on your feet and rotate through the hips as you throw straight punches, hooks and uppercuts.<\/p>\n<p>B1. Swiss Ball Hamstring Curl <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"49\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Lie on your back with heels on the ball, hips lifted. Pull the ball toward you by bending your knees, then extend your legs without dropping your hips.<\/p>\n<p>B2. Swiss Ball Rotational Knee Tuck <\/p>\n<p data-journey-content=\"true\" data-node-id=\"52\" class=\"css-6wxqfj emevuu60\">Start in plank with shins on the ball. Draw your knees toward one elbow, extend back to centre, then toward the other elbow, keeping hips level.<\/p>\n<p>B3. Make rapid, short kicking motions on the ball. Maintain speed and control without letting your hips drop.<\/p>\n<p>B4.
