Legendary Texas blues-rock trio ZZ Top is boogieing its way back to the Majestic Theatre for back-to-back dates Thursday, April 9, and Friday, April 10. The stops are part of a tour dubbed The Big One.<\/p>\n

General ticket sales begin at 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 12, and artist presale begins Wednesday, Dec. 10. Comment \u201cBIG ONE\u201d on the Instagram post below to get a presale code. Ticket prices aren\u2019t yet posted.<\/p>\n

Recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest running active group with no lineup changes, for 50 years the trio consisted of vocalist-guitarist Billy Gibbons, drummer Frank Beard and bassist-vocalist Dusty Hill. <\/p>\n

ZZ Top rose to fame for iconic tracks such as \u201cSharp Dressed Man,\u201d \u201cGimme All Your Lovin’\u201d and \u201cLa Grange\u201d along with \u201cLegs,\u201d \u201cTush\u201d and other odes to sundry body parts.<\/p>\n

Formed in 1969, the band had uncharacteristic staying power, even as the dawn of MTV cratered the careers of its classic-rock contemporaries.<\/p>\n

While video killed many a radio star, the opposite was the case for ZZ Top. Hill\u2019s and Gibbon\u2019s signature hats, sunglasses and long beards \u2014 combined with the tongue-in-cheek raunchiness of their lyrics and music videos \u2014 made them a lynchpin of \u201980s pop culture and cemented their status as rock gods for a whole new generation.<\/p>\n

When Hill died in 2021, the band replaced him with longtime guitar tech Elwood Francis, in line with the late bassist\u2019s wishes. Already an honorary band member, Francis even looks the part, sporting his own long, white beard, sunglasses and wild mop of hair. <\/p>\n

And let\u2019s not forget Francis\u2019 signature 17-string bass, one of the many reasons the band is still considered one of the nation\u2019s best live acts.<\/p>\n

Though fans aren\u2019t getting the original lineup, certainly this is the next best thing. <\/p>\n
