\n\tChristopher Nolan\u2019s \u201cThe Odyssey<\/a>\u201d will begin its epic theatrical journey over the weekend. <\/p>\n

\n\tAudiences will be treated to the nearly six-minute prologue of \u201cThe Odyssey\u201d on Dec. 12 ahead of Imax 70mm screenings of \u201cSinners\u201d and \u201cOne Battle After Another,\u201d which are returning to the big screen for re-releases. The following weekend, a shorter (but still full-length) version of \u201cThe Odyssey\u201d trailer will play ahead of all \u201cAvatar: Fire and Ash\u201d showings, which start on Dec. 19. Meanwhile the prologue will continue to run exclusively before Imax screenings of \u201cAvatar 3.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe extended trailer is debuting on Imax 70mm screens not only because it is Nolan\u2019s preferred format, but also because \u201cThe Odyssey\u201d will be the first movie shot entirely with Imax cameras. Nolan\u2019s prior blockbuster, \u201cOppenheimer,\u201d was particularly huge in Imax, with the premium format contributing a massive 20% of overall box office grosses. Some movie lovers even crossed state lines<\/a>\u00a0to see \u201cOppenheimer\u201d in 70mm Imax, selling out those particularly large auditoriums for weeks.<\/p>\n

\n\tThis isn\u2019t the first glimpse at \u201cThe Odyssey.\u201d A minute-long teaser was unveiled over the summer ahead of \u201cJurassic World Rebirth\u201d and \u201cSuperman\u201d showings, stoking excitement a year before the film lands in theaters on July 17, 2026.<\/p>\n

\n\tAn adaptation of the Homer\u2019s Greek epic, \u201cThe Odyssey\u201d stars Matt Damon as Odysseus, the king of Ithaca, and chronicles his long and perilous return home after the Trojan War. Tom Holland portrays his son Telemachus while Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong\u2019o, Robert Pattinson, Charlize Theron and Jon Bernthal round out the ensemble. <\/p>\n

\n\tGiven Nolan\u2019s stature in Hollywood, Universal decided to put tickets on sale \u2014 only for select Imax 70mm screens \u2014 12 months before the action-epic is slated to debut.
