{"id":436904,"date":"2025-12-10T03:04:12","date_gmt":"2025-12-10T03:04:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/436904\/"},"modified":"2025-12-10T03:04:12","modified_gmt":"2025-12-10T03:04:12","slug":"why-julia-louis-dreyfus-felt-forced-to-share-her-breast-cancer-diagnosis","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/436904\/","title":{"rendered":"Why Julia Louis-Dreyfus felt forced to share her breast cancer diagnosis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Julia Louis-Dreyfus felt forced to reveal her breast cancer diagnosis because she knew she would need to explain the pause of her hit show, \u201cVeep.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During her <a href=\"https:\/\/podcasts.apple.com\/us\/podcast\/julia-louis-dreyfus\/id1795483480?i=1000740393320\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tuesday appearance on the \u201cGood Hang\u201d\u00a0podcast<\/a>, host Amy Poehler commended her for going public with her diagnosis, saying it was \u201cvery helpful for a lot of people\u201d and wasn\u2019t something she was obligated to share.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWell, I was kind of backed into a corner on that one, because we had to shut our show down,\u201d Louis-Dreyfus, 64, admitted. \u201cIt\u2019s funny how that worked out, because normally I would not have done that. I\u2019m very private.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Julia Louis-Dreyfus felt forced to reveal her breast cancer diagnosis because she knew she would need to explain why her hit show, \u201cVeep,\u201d would be put on pause.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was kind of backed into a corner on that one, because we had to shut our show down,\u201d Louis-Dreyfus admitted on the \u201cGood Hang\u201d podcast Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Once the actress realized that shooting would need to be put on pause so she could focus on her health, it also hit her that \u201c250 people weren\u2019t going to be working.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo I had to make a public thing about it,\u201d Louis-Dreyfus explained. <\/p>\n<p>Despite feeling forced to reveal her illness, she now looks back on the experience with positivity and is thankful she was able to touch other people going through a similar journey.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe good thing about doing that was that I did have this incredible experience of people reaching out to me \u2014 asking me about my experience going through the breast cancer; for advice. And I was able to help.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s funny how that worked out, because normally I would not have done that. For real. I don\u2019t mean to sound all Pollyannaish. I actually think it\u2019s true.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cSeinfeld\u201d star was <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2017\/09\/28\/julia-louis-dreyfus-diagnosed-with-breast-cancer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">diagnosed with breast cancer<\/a> in September 2017. Her HBO sitcom ran for seven seasons, from 2012 to 2019.<\/p>\n<p>One year after announcing her diagnosis, Louis-Dreyfus shared she was in remission after <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2018\/02\/14\/julia-louis-dreyfus-undergoes-surgery-for-breast-cancer\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">undergoing a double mastectomy<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2017\/10\/20\/julia-louis-dreyfus-not-f-king-around-after-chemotherapy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">six rounds of chemotherapy<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p>The comedian announced her cancer diagnosis in September 2017 and has been in remission since 2018. REUTERS<\/p>\n<p>In 2019, \u201cVeep\u201d creator, David Mandel, <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2019\/05\/14\/julia-louis-dreyfus-cancer-was-the-best-thing-for-show-says-veep-showrunner\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said her cancer ended up being \u201cthe best\u201d thing<\/a> for the show, as it gave them more time to reconvene and deliver a better version of the final season.<\/p>\n<p>Louis-Dreyfus <a href=\"https:\/\/pagesix.com\/2018\/08\/16\/julia-louis-dreyfus-thanks-veep-crew-for-coming-back-for-final-season\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gave the cast and crew of the show a heartfelt thank you<\/a> when they came back to shoot the final season once she was cancer-free.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI really appreciate everyone coming back and working it out to come back,\u201d the actress said in an Instagram video at the time. \u201cI\u2019m very grateful. Thank you very much.
