Marcus Rashford\u2019s story at FC Barcelona this season has keen watchers at Manchester United, and Gerard Pique, as someone with ties to both clubs, has shared a \u2018surprise\u2019 of his about it. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Manchester United<\/a> sanctioned Marcus Rashford\u2019s<\/a> dream move to Barcelona last summer in the hope that he would impress enough in Spain for them to make it permanent. <\/p>\n

Rashford started on fire<\/a>, and despite some recent hiccups<\/a>, the loan has largely been a success, even though he might have to make do with a reduced role in the team<\/a> now.<\/p>\n

The deal presents almost a \u00a340m Rashford dilemma for Man Utd<\/a>, so any good performance he has for Barcelona is cheered at Old Trafford<\/a>. <\/p>\n

It\u2019s clear that the story between him and his boyhood club is over<\/a>, so United will welcome Pique\u2019s latest comments. <\/p>\n

Pique holds an influential voice at Barcelona despite his retirement, so his comments about Rashford surprising him with his impact at the club will steer the narrative a bit.<\/p>\n

In a recent interview with Moeve Futbol<\/a>, Pique was asked to name a player who has surprised him the most, positively or negatively.<\/p>\n

He said, \u201cRashford, I think he had a very good start. Now let\u2019s see how it ends, or how it continues. He scored both goals against Newcastle. He has produced a lot in terms of numbers; he has contributed a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n

Barcelona could easily refuse to trigger the option and try to negotiate another loan deal for him next summer because they know United can\u2019t keep him, and he won\u2019t go anywhere else. <\/p>\n

The contract runs until 2028, so it\u2019s a nightmare scenario for United, especially now that Rashford will have his squad role reduced<\/a>. <\/p>\n

They have to get him out of the door by any means necessary, and that means being held to ransom by the negotiating club. <\/p>\n

His contract is among the last inheritances of the Glazer regime that the club will finally be rid of in 2028.<\/p>\n
