A 61-year-old man arrested on suspicion of DWI died after experiencing a medical episode while being transferred to the Bexar County Sheriff\u2019s Office. <\/p>\n

SAN ANTONIO \u2014 A 61-year-old man arrested on suspicion of DWI died Friday after experiencing a medical episode while being transferred to the Bexar County Sheriff\u2019s Office, according to San Antonio police.<\/p>\n

SAPD identified the man as Darryl Dwayne Valadez. Officers initially took Valadez into custody on a charge of driving while intoxicated. While he was being moved into the custody of the Bexar County Sheriff\u2019s Office<\/a> at the Justice Intake and Assessment Annex, police say he suffered a medical episode.<\/p>\n

Emergency Medical Services were called, and Valadez was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead by the medical examiners office.<\/p>\n

SAPD said the incident is being treated as an in-custody death and remains under investigation. No additional details have been released. \u00a0<\/p>\n

This death marks the 12th death associated with the Bexar County Jail.\u00a0<\/p>\n
