Outgoing woo-woo-loving Mayor<\/a> Eric Adams spookily warned successor Zohran Mamdani that his soon-to-be new home<\/a> of Gracie Mansion is haunted.<\/p>\n \u201cBeware of the ghost,\u201d Adams joked during a Tuesday visit to Washington, DC, a Fox Business reporter posted on X<\/a>.<\/p>\n Mayor Eric Adams believes in ghosts \u2014 and said they\u2019re living in Gracie Mansion. J.C. Rice<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s a friendly ghost, as long as you\u2019re doing right by the city,\u201d he said. \u201cIf you don\u2019t become right by the city, he turns into a poltergeist.\u201d<\/p>\n Adams has repeatedly proclaimed that the 226-year-old mayoral residence is also real-life Haunted Mansion \u2014 but his latest campfire tale also let him indulge in his growing habit of giving Mamdani boos by shading the socialist\u2019s plans<\/a>.<\/p>\n Representatives for Mamdani, who announced this week he\u2019ll be moving into Gracie Mansion<\/a> after he takes office next month, didn\u2019t respond to Adams\u2019 spectral jibe.<\/p>\n The one-sided ghost adventure came a week after Adams and Mamdani met face-to-face to discuss the ongoing mayoral transition<\/a>.<\/p>\n The sitdown foreshadowed the end of Adams\u2019 four-year tenure as the Big Apple\u2019s mayor \u2014 and time communing with Gracie Mansion\u2019s restless spirits<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t care what anyone says, there are ghosts in there, man,\u201d Hizzoner\u00a0told<\/a>\u00a0Yankees announcers Michael Kay and Cameron Maybin in 2022, a few months after he moved into the Upper East Side abode.<\/p>\n Adams warned Mamdani about the supposed specter. Andrew Schwartz\/SIPA\/Shutterstock<\/p>\n Adams didn\u2019t back down on his ghostly beliefs a year later, insisting it\u2019d be a grave error to ignore the mansion\u2019s history and \u201cenergy.\u201d<\/p>\n The house, located in Carl Schurz Park in Yorkville, has seen at least two deaths.<\/p>\n Elizabeth Wolcott Gracie, the daughter-in-law of the shipping merchant who built the mansion, succumbed to apoplexy in 1819.<\/p>\n And Susan Wagner \u2014 the wife of former Mayor Robert Wagner \u2014 died in the mansion <\/a>during 1964 after a battle with lung cancer.<\/p>\n \u201cYou hear squeaks \u2026 You hear a door close,\u201d Adams told CBS New York<\/a> in 2023. \u201cYou hear, there are different sounds you hear inside the building as I walk around at night, you can hear them.\u201d<\/p>\n Gracie Mansion is 226 years old.
