\n\tJennifer Lawrence<\/a> and Josh Hutcherson<\/a> are returning to the games.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe two stars, known for their roles in Lionsgate<\/a>\u2018s original Hunger Games<\/a> films, will appear in the forthcoming prequel movie The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping<\/a>, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed. Lionsgate releases the new feature in theaters Nov. 20, 2026.<\/p>\n

\n\tLawrence will reprise her role as Katniss Everdeen, while Hutcherson will return as Peeta Mellark, with the pair likely appearing in a flash-forward. No details have been disclosed.<\/p>\n

\n\tFrancis Lawrence<\/a> directs the movie adaptation of Suzanne Collins<\/a>\u2018 best-selling novel. The previously confirmed castmembers<\/a> of Sunrise on the Reaping include Ralph Fiennes<\/a> as President Snow, Jesse Plemons<\/a> as Plutarch Heavensbee, Kelvin Harrison Jr.<\/a> as Beetee Latier, Kieran Culkin<\/a> as Caesar Flickerman, and Elle Fanning<\/a> as Effie Trinket. Joseph Zada, Glenn Close<\/a>, Mckenna Grace<\/a>, Maya Hawke<\/a> and Whitney Peak round out the core cast.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe book\u00a0Sunrise on the Reaping\u00a0takes place in Panem on the morning of the reaping for the 50th Hunger Games, 24 years before the events in\u00a0The Hunger Games, the first novel that published in 2008. The franchise\u2019s first five movies have surpassed $3.3 billion at the worldwide box office, with the initial four films led by Lawrence as Katniss, Hutcherson as Peeta, and Liam Hemsworth as Gale Hawthorne. The film series kicked off with 2012\u2019s The Hunger Games.<\/p>\n

\n\tLawrence and Hutcherson\u2019s most recent entry in the franchise was 2015\u2019s The Hunger Games: Mockingjay \u2014 Part 2, which ended with the pair married with children. Lawrence earned a Golden Globe Award nomination<\/a> this week for her role in Die My Love, while Hutcherson currently stars in Five Nights at Freddy\u2019s 2.<\/p>\n

\n\tFrancis Lawrence helms the new movie from a script by Billy Ray that adapts Collins\u2019 book. Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson produce for Color Force, while Cameron MacConomy executive produces.<\/p>\n

\n\tSunrise on the Reaping is a sequel to 2023\u2019s The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes, which starred Rachel Zegler, Tom Blyth and Hunter Schafer.<\/p>\n

\n\tLionsgate did not respond for comment.<\/p>\n
