In an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.whowhatwear.com\/fashion\/cover-features\/amanda-seyfried\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">interview with Who What Wear<\/a>, the actress said she refuses to apologize for calling <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/charlie-kirk\/\" id=\"auto-tag_charlie-kirk\" data-tag=\"charlie-kirk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Charlie Kirk<\/a> \u201chateful\u201d after the Turning Point USA co-founder was shot and killed earlier this year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tIn September, Seyfried commented on an Instagram post about Kirk\u2019s death, writing, \u201cHe was hateful.\u201d There was an immediate backlash and she shared <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DOtN_cJjQyF\/\" target=\"_blank\">her own post<\/a> clarifying her comment the following day. She said she doesn\u2019t regret writing it. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cI\u2019m not fucking apologizing for that. I mean, for fuck\u2019s sake, I commented on\u00a0one\u00a0thing,\u201d she told Who What Wear. \u201cI said something that was based on actual reality and actual footage and actual quotes. What I said was pretty damn factual, and I\u2019m free to have an opinion, of course. Thank God for Instagram. I was able to give some clarity, and it was about getting my voice back because I felt like it had been stolen and recontextualized\u2014which is what people do, of course.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tKirk was <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/politics\/politics-news\/charlie-kirk-turning-point-usa-founder-dead-1235424931\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fatally shot in the neck<\/a> on Sept. 10 while speaking at an event in Utah. The response to his death cause significant upheaval on both sides of the aisle. Seyfried quickly clarified her original comment, noting in an Instagram caption that she didn\u2019t \u201cwant to add fuel to a fire.\u201d \u201cI just want to be able to give clarity to something so irresponsibly (but understandably) taken out of context,\u201d she wrote. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\t\u201cWe\u2019re forgetting the nuance of humanity,\u201d her post read. \u201cI can get angry about misogyny and racist rhetoric and ALSO very much agree that Charlie Kirk\u2019s murder was absolutely disturbing and deplorable in every way imaginable. No one should have to experience this level of violence. This country is grieving too many senseless and violent deaths and shootings. Can we agree on that at least?\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-line-height-copy  lrv-a-font-body-l   \">\n\tNumerous Hollywood figures reacted publicly to Kirk\u2019s death, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/jamie-lee-curtis\/\" id=\"auto-tag_jamie-lee-curtis\" data-tag=\"jamie-lee-curtis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jamie Lee Curtis<\/a>, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/tv-movies\/tv-movie-news\/jamie-lee-curtis-charlie-kirk-death-response-1235428162\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cried while discussing the controversial activist<\/a> on\u00a0<a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.wtfpod.com\/podcast\/episode-1678-jamie-lee-curtis\">Marc Maron\u2018s\u00a0WTF\u00a0podcast. \u201cI disagreed with him on almost every point I ever heard him say,\u201d she said. \u201cBut I believe he was a man of faith, and I hope in that moment when he died that he felt connected to his faith.
