CHICAGO (WLS) — Two Cook County sheriff’s deputies were shot at outside of Mt. Sinai Hospital Wednesday morning, Chicago police and the sheriff’s office said.<\/p>\n

The shooting took place at about 3:36 a.m. in the 1500-block of South California Avenue in Douglass Park.<\/p>\n

Police said two men, ages 27 and 28, were driving north when a silver sedan approached and someone inside opened fire.<\/p>\n

The vehicle the men were in was struck, but no one was injured, police said.<\/p>\n

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that both men are deputies who were on-duty. The office originally said the deputies were off-duty.<\/p>\n

The suspect’s vehicle then drove east.<\/p>\n

No one is in custody and Area Four detectives are investigating.<\/p>\n
