{"id":440319,"date":"2025-12-11T15:00:15","date_gmt":"2025-12-11T15:00:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/440319\/"},"modified":"2025-12-11T15:00:15","modified_gmt":"2025-12-11T15:00:15","slug":"3m-to-support-anti-gang-program-heads-to-san-antonio-city-council-for-a-vote","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/440319\/","title":{"rendered":"$3M to support anti-gang program heads to San Antonio City Council for a vote"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The proposed funding comes from DHS Grants to continue the Texas Anti-Gang Program made by Governor Abbott.<\/p>\n<p>SAN ANTONIO \u2014 More than $3 million could soon go to gang violence prevention in San Antonio and it comes down to a vote Thursday in City Council.<\/p>\n<p>The funding comes from the Department of Homeland Security Grants Division to continue the Texas Anti-Gang Program made by Governor Abbott.<\/p>\n<p>The program is a collaboration between SAPD, the Bexar County Sheriff&#8217;s Office and Texas DPS.<\/p>\n<p>Three million will go to SAPD in part to hire six new employees. Two of the employees would be police officers.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The other four positions include a fiscal analyst, a crime intelligence analyst, a police program specialist and an analysis manager.<\/p>\n<p>Money not going to staff will go to equipment, training, the building lease and professional and contract services.<\/p>\n<p>This vote comes within a month of the massive November 16 raid off San Pedro and Basse Road. More than 150 people detained as dozens of agencies showed up to disrupt a local Tren de Aragua network, a Venezuelan gang.<\/p>\n<p>Out of the 150 people detained, Homeland Security confirmed 27 were documented members of the gang.<\/p>\n<p>If approved, this money will be managed by SAPD.
