{"id":440425,"date":"2025-12-11T16:05:16","date_gmt":"2025-12-11T16:05:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/440425\/"},"modified":"2025-12-11T16:05:16","modified_gmt":"2025-12-11T16:05:16","slug":"time-magazine-names-architects-of-ai-person-of-the-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/440425\/","title":{"rendered":"Time magazine names &#8216;Architects of AI&#8217; person of the year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The \u201cArchitects of AI\u201d were named Time\u2019s person of the year for 2025 on Thursday, with the magazine citing this year as when the potential of <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/hub\/artificial-intelligence\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">artificial intelligence<\/a> \u201croared into view\u201d with no turning back.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor delivering the age of thinking machines, for wowing and worrying humanity, for transforming the present and transcending the possible, the Architects of AI are TIME\u2019s 2025 Person of the Year,\u201d Time said in a social media post.<\/p>\n<p>The magazine was deliberate in selecting people \u2014 the \u201cindividuals who imagined, designed, and built AI\u201d \u2014 rather than the technology itself, though there would have been some precedent for that.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve named not just individuals but also groups, more women than our founders could have imagined (though still not enough), and, on rare occasions, a concept: the endangered Earth, in 1988, or the personal computer, in 1982,\u201d wrote Sam Jacobs, the editor-in-chief, in an explanation of the choice. \u201cThe drama surrounding the selection of the PC over Apple\u2019s Steve Jobs later became the stuff of books and a movie.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One of the cover images resembling the \u201cLunch Atop a Skyscraper\u201d photograph from the 1930s shows eight tech leaders sitting on the beam: Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, AMD CEO Lisa Su, Tesla CEO Elon Musk, Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, the CEO of Google\u2019s DeepMind division Demis Hassabis, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei and AI pioneer Fei-Fei Li, who launched her own startup World Labs last year.<\/p>\n<p>Another cover image shows scaffolding surrounding the giant letters \u201cAI\u201d made to look like computer componentry.<\/p>\n<p>    <a class=\"AnchorLink\" id=\"html-embed-module-a50000\"\/><\/p>\n<p>Stay up to date with the news and the best of AP by following our WhatsApp channel.<\/p>\n<p>        <a class=\"ap-btn-whatsapp\" href=\"https:\/\/www.whatsapp.com\/channel\/0029Va7Tv2j59PwNEyqGCi1y\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><br \/>\n            Follow on<br \/>\n            <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/1761588853_344_\" alt=\"WhatsApp\"\/><br \/>\n        <\/a><\/p>\n<p>It made sense for Time to anoint AI because 2025 was the year that it shifted from \u201ca novel technology explored by early adopters to one where a critical mass of consumers see it as part of their mainstream lives,\u201d Thomas Husson, principal analyst at research firm Forrester, said by email.<\/p>\n<p>The magazine noted AI company CEOs\u2019 attendance at <a class=\"Link AnClick-LinkEnhancement\" data-gtm-enhancement-style=\"LinkEnhancementA\" href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/trump-inauguration-tech-billionaires-zuckerberg-musk-wealth-0896bfc3f50d941d62cebc3074267ecd\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">President Donald Trump\u2019s inauguration<\/a> this year at the Capitol as a herald for the prominence of the sector. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was the year when artificial intelligence\u2019s full potential roared into view, and when it became clear that there will be no turning back or opting out,\u201d Jacobs wrote.<\/p>\n<p>AI was a leading contender for the top slot, according to prediction markets, along with Huang and Altman.
