Nearly 70 people have been confirmed dead<\/a> due to flooding in the Texas Hill Country<\/a>, where rescue and recovery efforts continued Sunday.<\/p>\n

Some of those reported dead or missing are from the Houston area<\/a>, including Jeff Wilson, a longtime teacher in Humble ISD who died during the floods, according to the school district<\/a>. Greta Toranzo, a 10-year-old Houston ISD student<\/a>, is among those missing from Camp Mystic<\/a>, a beloved all-girls camp on the banks of the Guadalupe River. <\/p>\n

Houston-area residents and those across the state can help the flood victims and their families.<\/p>\n

Kerrville Mayor Joe Herring said Sunday there are several ways to directly support Kerr County, where there have been at least 59 deaths, including 38 adults and 21 children<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Our goal is to rescue those in peril and find those who are lost,” Herring said. “I understand our community, our state, and the world have been responding. Thank you.”<\/p>\n

In a social media post early Sunday, the Kerrville Police Department said the city did not need additional food or water donations, but said monetary donations were still being accepted. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
