(Saile Aranda\/TPR)<\/p>\n<p>Nearly 70 people have been <a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2025\/07\/05\/nx-s1-5457278\/texas-hill-country-flooding\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">confirmed dead<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2025\/07\/05\/nx-s1-5457278\/texas-hill-country-flooding\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> due to flooding in the Texas Hill Country<\/a>, where rescue and recovery efforts continued Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Some of those reported dead or missing are from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.houstonpublicmedia.org\/articles\/news\/local\/2025\/07\/04\/525661\/houston-residents-reported-dead-missing-central-texas-floods\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Houston area<\/a>, including Jeff Wilson, a longtime teacher in Humble ISD who died during the floods, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/HumbleISD\/status\/1941701587316949171\" rel=\"nofollow\">school district<\/a>. Greta Toranzo, a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.houstonpublicmedia.org\/articles\/news\/local\/2025\/07\/06\/525727\/candlelight-vigil-held-for-houston-isd-student-others-lost-in-central-texas-floods\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">10-year-old Houston ISD student<\/a>, is among those missing from<a href=\"https:\/\/www.houstonpublicmedia.org\/articles\/news\/texas\/2025\/07\/05\/525708\/my-favorite-place-in-the-entire-world-camp-mystic-inspired-generations-of-texas-women\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Camp Mystic<\/a>, a beloved all-girls camp on the banks of the Guadalupe River.  <\/p>\n<p>Houston-area residents and those across the state can help the flood victims and their families.<\/p>\n<p>Kerrville Mayor Joe Herring said Sunday there are several ways to directly support Kerr County, where there have been at least 59 deaths, including <a href=\"https:\/\/www.houstonpublicmedia.org\/articles\/news\/texas\/2025\/07\/05\/525648\/guadalupe-river-flooding-leads-to-fatalities-in-texas-hill-country\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">38 adults and 21 children<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Our goal is to rescue those in peril and find those who are lost,&#8221; Herring said. &#8220;I understand our community, our state, and the world have been responding. Thank you.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In a social media post early Sunday, the Kerrville Police Department said the city did not need additional food or water donations, but said monetary donations were still being accepted. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>Here are ways to help Kerr County and Kerrville, according to Herring:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Monetary donations to support the families can be made via the nonprofit <a href=\"https:\/\/cftexashillcountry.fcsuite.com\/erp\/donate\/create\/fund?funit_id=4201\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country<\/a>. <\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">The Kerrville branch of the Salvation Army has been designated as the official volunteer coordinator and in-kind donations partner. It will be open from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday and can be reached at 830-465-4797.<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Volunteers can also register at <a href=\"http:\/\/tcr.communityos.org\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">tcr.communityos.org<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Ways Houston-area residents can assist<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Along with making donations directly to the organizations listed above, several Houston-area groups are also organizing fundraisers and donation drives of their own. <\/p>\n<p><strong>The Cy-Fair FFA<\/strong> will be collecting gift cards for the Ingram\/Kerrville community. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Gift cards can be dropped off from 8:30-11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 10 at 11206 Telge Rd. in Cypress. <\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Types of gift cards requested:\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\">HEB\/Walmart<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\">Lowes\/Home Depot<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\">Visa\/Mastercard<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Humble ISD<\/strong> will be running a similar gift card donation drive from Sunday to Tuesday, with two different pickup locations from noon-7 p.m. daily. <\/p>\n<p>The two pickup locations are<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">North AG Barn: 4020 Mills Branch Dr. in Kingwood<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">George Turner Stadium guest parking lot: 1700 Wilson Rd. in Humble<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Humble ISD will also be accepting a variety of other donations, but said gift cards were the best way to help. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><b>Clear Brook FFA<\/b> will be having a gift card drive from 4-7 p.m. Thursday, July 10:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Location: 2155 W. NASA Rd. in Webster<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\">Cards needed:\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"> Lowes\/Home Depot<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\">Visa\/Mastercard<\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\">HEB\/Walmart<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Pearland Lions Club <\/b>will have a non-perishable items drive from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at 3350 S. Main St. in Pearland<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><b>Alvin ISD <\/b>will be hosting a non-perishable items drive for three days at 802 S.
