However, while the alleged preemptive online smear campaign against the Another Simple Favor actress has received second billing for the most part, the retaliation claims may end up being the marquee player of <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/12\/blake-lively-justin-baldoni-trial-postponed-1236643524\/\" data-type=\"post\" data-id=\"1236643524\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">next year\u2019s trial<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe heightened and possibly strengthened role of Lively\u2019s retaliation claims against Baldoni, his Wayfarer Studios brass and PR team come in no small part due to <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/rebel-wilson\/\" id=\"auto-tag_rebel-wilson\" data-tag=\"rebel-wilson\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rebel Wilson<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/taylor-swift\/\" id=\"auto-tag_taylor-swift\" data-tag=\"taylor-swift\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Taylor Swift<\/a>, according to a court filing this week and a just released metadata study.<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"c-lazy-image__img lrv-u-background-color-grey-lightest lrv-u-width-100p lrv-u-display-block lrv-u-height-auto\" src=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/wp-content\/themes\/pmc-deadline-2019\/assets\/public\/lazyload-fallback.jpg\" data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/Rebel-Wilson-and-Taylor-Swift.jpg\" alt=\"Rebel Wilson and Taylor Swift\" data-lazy- data-lazy- height=\"577\" width=\"1024\" decoding=\"async\"\/><\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t(L-R) Rebel Wilson and Taylor Swift<\/p>\n<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tGetty Images<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cGUDEA found a significant user overlap between accounts pushing the Swift \u2018Nazi\u2019 narrative and those active in a separate astroturf campaign attacking Blake Lively,\u201d says <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/taylor-swift-social-media-smear-anaylsis.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a data analysis by behavioral intelligence startup GUDEA<\/a>, citing a surge in harsh online \u201cinauthentic narratives\u201d around the political and cultural beliefs of the godmother of one of Lively and Ryan Reynolds\u2019 kids and the October release of her album The Life of a Showgirl. \u201cThis overlap reveals a cross-event amplification network, one that disproportionately influences multiple celebrity-driven controversies and injects misinformation into otherwise organic conversations.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/11\/blake-lively-money-loss-justin-baldoni-lawsuits-1236610233\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Seeking total damages of around $500 million,<\/a> Lively claims most recently in an early November filing that the online slagging stained her reputation, caused personal and family distress and cost her roles on-screen, and endorsement and \u201cspeaking engagement\u201d earnings. As well, and perhaps getting to the true heart of her December 2024-filed complaint against the <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/bryan-freedman\/\" id=\"auto-tag_bryan-freedman\" data-tag=\"bryan-freedman\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Bryan Freedman<\/a>-represented Wayfarer, PR firm The Agency Group, and Baldoni himself with<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2024\/12\/blake-lively-justin-baldoni-sexual-harassment-it-ends-with-us-1236240072\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">\u00a0the California Civil Rights department<\/a>, there\u2019s the matters of profits lost and royalties never earned from her previously lucrative Blake Brown Beauty products and her beverage holding company Betty B Holdings supposedly because of the online hate-on.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tUnlike Lively\u2019s various legal actions against Agency Group boss <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/melissa-nathan\/\" id=\"auto-tag_melissa-nathan\" data-tag=\"melissa-nathan\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Melissa Nathan<\/a>, her alleged self-described \u201chired gun\u201d and digital right-hand man Jed Wallace and fellow publicist Jennifer Abel, the GUDEA study doesn\u2019t name names of who could be behind the online attacks on Swift and Lively, respectively.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tIt does note that the \u201cpresence of a small set of Outliers, Facilitators, and Influencers active across both datasets suggests shared amplification pathways and a potential recurring network of accounts capable of escalating or ideologically reframing celebrity narratives.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tReps for Swift, who has a six-part<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/feature\/taylor-swift-eras-tour-docuseries-release-schedule-1236644006\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> The End of an Era docuseries launching on Disney+ on Friday, <\/a>did not respond to Deadline\u2019s request for comment on the study. Yet, a source close to events quipped \u201cconnect the dots\u201d when it comes to online blowback against superstar Swift. Noting all the tabloid claims of deep riffs between the \u201cThe Fate of Ophelia\u201d\u00a0singer and Lively, the source also referenced efforts to \u201cpull Taylor into this lawsuit over and over\u201d by Baldoni and Wayfarer\u2019s legal team.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tIt should also be noted that Swift,<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/09\/taylor-swift-no-deposition-blake-lively-case-justin-baldoni-1236530533\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> who has made several cameos in the Lively vs. Baldoni saga over the past year<\/a> and contributed a song to the soundtrack of the Sony-distributed IEWU, is on a list of potential witnesses for<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/12\/blake-lively-justin-baldoni-trial-postponed-1236643524\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> the trial now scheduled to begin in May 2026<\/a> \u2014 though that list has a lot of big names on it, like hubby Reynolds and his Deadpool &amp; Wolverine co-star Hugh Jackman.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tIn heavily redacted paperwork put before the federal court by PR firm JonesWorks\u2019 <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/stephanie-jones\/\" id=\"auto-tag_stephanie-jones\" data-tag=\"stephanie-jones\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Stephanie Jones<\/a> in her own lawsuit over her former employee Abel and the Wayfarer inner circle, the onetime Baldoni publicist\u2019s attorneys allege that the online attacks that Lively claims she was subjected to in a preemptive move by Baldoni\u2019s Nathan-led crisis PR team were used against her and others too.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThose others include <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/the-deb\/\" id=\"auto-tag_the-deb\" data-tag=\"the-deb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Deb<\/a> producer Amanda Ghost in<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/11\/rebel-wilson-speaks-out-the-deb-legal-drama-1236626901\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Wilson\u2019s multi-national dispute<\/a> with her over the indie drama and accusations of financial sticky fingers and (denied) misconduct with actress Charlotte MacInnes. For the record, the always busy Freedman has represented Wilson in the U.S. portion of her battles and accusations against Ghost and other producers of The Deb, which as of now does not have a U.S. distributor.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tReferencing texts between Nathan (who at a previous firm<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2024\/12\/amber-heard-blake-lively-justin-baldoni-allegations-johnny-depp-1236240885\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> worked for Johnny Depp during his successful defamation trial against ex-wife and widely online attacked Amber Heard<\/a>) and TAG staffer Katie Case (whose deposition in the <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/lively-baldoni\/\" id=\"auto-tag_lively-baldoni\" data-tag=\"lively-baldoni\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lively-Baldoni<\/a> matter has had a lot of traction in recent months) that say \u201cRebel wants one of those sites,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/lively-jones-proposed-FAC-dec-8-r.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jones\u2019 proposed amended complaint<\/a> against ex-employee and Nathan pal Abel asserts \u201cthe connection between these websites is not speculative.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tGUDEA may not name names, but Jones and her Jonesworks lawyers at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart &amp; Sullivan do name names \u2014 at least a couple.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/12\/lively-jones-FAC-memo-dec-8_r.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A memorandum backing Jones\u2019 desire to file an amended complaint<\/a> states: \u201cThe September 2025 deposition of a former employee of Nathan revealed that she, at Nathan\u2019s instruction and in coordination with Jed Wallace, helped create the defamatory websites about the Jones Parties \u2014 just as she had done at least two other times, again at Nathan\u2019s instruction and in coordination with Wallace, against other\u00a0 individuals. This evidence requires identification of Nathan as a previously-pled Doe Defendant, and supports the additional tortious interference claim against her.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tNathan has denied in court filings that she had anything to do with any sites or online swipes against Ghost, but Jones\u2019 proposed amended complaint drills down on the data, so to speak.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\t\u201cRecent forensic analysis of the Jones, Amanda Ghost, and Alexander Brothers websites has determined that those websites and the promotion of them share certain digital fingerprints, including boosting their placement in search engine results by using backlinks (that is, links to the websites from third party websites, social media accounts, and blogs) created by similar authors,\u201d the frequently blacked out filing says. \u201cThis forensic evidence supports only one conclusion: these websites were created by the same individual or coordinated set of individuals, i.e., Nathan and Wallace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tNathan, in both her capacity for herself and as a rep for Baldoni and his crew, did not reply to requests for her POV on the allegations in Jones\u2019 latest filings. Of note, since Jones\u2019 filings on December 8, a number of the sites cited in her paperwork have disappeared or gone dark. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tRepresentatives for Lively, who has a judge-ordered virtual settlement scheduling conference coming up on December 15, also did not respond Thursday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAs for those settlement talks Judge Lewis Liman is requiring the Lively and Baldoni parties to have going into the New Year \u2014 don\u2019t read too much into them. Liman pushed back the trial start date from March to May this week because of a backlog of criminal cases on his docket and any hope of this bitter battle getting resolved before a trial is worth a swing. All the lawyers have to do is have one discussion of a settlement, and, from what I hear, it will be short.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAs Lively said in a December 4 filing,<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/2025\/12\/blake-lively-rejects-justin-baldoni-lawsuit-dismissal-1236634734\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> the actress wants her \u201cday in court,\u201d<\/a> and that means this trial is happening.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tTo that, the next significant date in all this is January 22.
