Kenny Pickett<\/a> will start at quarterback against the Philadelphia Eagles, Head Coach Pete Carroll announced Friday.<\/p>\n

Geno Smith<\/a>, who suffered a right shoulder and hand injury last Sunday, did not practice this week and has been ruled out<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“Geno won’t make it back. He tried,” Carroll said. “Couldn’t get it done in this amount of time. Have a really good chance to be back next week, so Kenny’s going to take the lead.”<\/p>\n

This is Pickett’s first start for the Raiders since they acquired him via trade<\/a> from the Cleveland Browns. Last Sunday, Pickett came into the game in relief of Smith and went 8-of-11 for 97 yards and a touchdown.<\/p>\n

“He’s done everything we could ask of him,” Carroll said. “He had an excellent week. He’s in command of what we’re doing, communications are good and all that. Got a little East Coast in him, so that won’t hurt. We’ll support him in every way that we can to have a good game.<\/p>\n
