Since she was\u00a0only\u00a0five,\u00a0she\u2019s\u00a0always been grateful because\u00a0it doesn\u2019t\u00a0mention her name. But she gets incensed when she reads how the original charge of Capital Sexual Battery wound up being Attempted Sexual Battery\u00a0Child Under 12 Years (Lesser).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was abused,\u201d she said. \u201cHe\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0attempt\u00a0anything. He abused me.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>That was\u00a0nearly\u00a015\u00a0years ago. Sheila\u00a0(not her real name)\u00a0hasn\u2019t\u00a0talked about the\u00a0night Ty Shane Evans Rose\u00a0admitted what she told\u00a0a\u00a0Clay County Sheriff\u2019s Office\u00a0Detective\u00a0\u201cwas true, but stated that he did not intentionally do this to her.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>What he did, according to the\u00a0affidavit\u00a0for an arrest warrant, was pull her pants down several times while she pulled them back up. Eventually, he pulled them down and sexually assaulted her. She told the detective, \u201cIt hurt when the suspect did this, and he did not stop until her aunt got home.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She was young, and the physical wounds eventually healed. But the emotional scars are lasting.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was too young to reconcile what was going on,\u201d Sheila said. \u201cThere are some negative things in my head, like, I don&#8217;t want to sound bad when I say this, but like men in general, I have trust issues with them to an extreme.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rose was sentenced to 15 years in prison\u00a0and listed as a sexual predator in 2011. He was released on probation in 2021. Sheila was notified of Rose\u2019s release, and that created a more profound sense of concern.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019ve always been afraid of the dark,\u201d Sheila said. \u201cI don\u2019t go anywhere without my\u00a0husband.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rose was sent back to prison after he was arrested again in 2022 for violating the terms of his probation. According to court documents, he was\u00a0caught using his mother\u2019s login information to use Facebook, Facebook Messenger, WhatsApp,\u00a0CashApp,\u00a0Amazon\u00a0and Instagram.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>However, he was rereleased\u00a0on probation earlier this year. This time, Sheila\u00a0wasn\u2019t\u00a0notified that her attacker was on the loose. Even worse, he worked at a local fast-food restaurant, and she often worked as a DoorDash delivery driver who picked up from that store.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy mom got a photo of the stop sign at the end of our street in a Facebook message,\u201d Sheila said. \u201cWe\u00a0didn\u2019t\u00a0understand that. Now that I know he was out, we\u00a0can\u2019t\u00a0help but think it was a threat.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Rose is back in jail after being arrested for another probation violation. This time, he was accused\u00a0of contacting three prohibited minors and being intoxicated.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt least I know where he is,\u201d she said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Her husband said she\u00a0sometimes\u00a0shrieks\u00a0abruptly\u00a0in fear and\u00a0distress, as if\u00a0she\u2019s\u00a0relieving a\u00a0deep-rooted\u00a0trauma.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI might have to wake her up, maybe a little too\u00a0loud, or so, and she\u2019ll cry,\u201d he said. \u201cThere\u2019s\u00a0definitely some\u00a0PTSD there.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sheila wants other survivors to know they\u00a0shouldn\u2019t\u00a0be ashamed when they are the\u00a0target of\u00a0an adult\u2019s perversion, especially from a family member.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI didn\u2019t do anything wrong,\u201d she said. \u201cI woke up to a man doing\u00a0things to me that no adult should do to a child.\u00a0I blocked it all out until I was about eight.\u00a0I have a lot of anxiety issues now.\u00a0I also have a problem when people think they deserve it. I see stuff all the time. Oh, she was wearing this or wearing that. I mean,\u00a0I&#8217;m\u00a0sorry, but if you\u00a0can&#8217;t\u00a0keep it in your pants, then\u00a0something&#8217;s\u00a0wrong with you.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Sheila\u00a0admitted that\u00a0her situation is precarious.\u00a0It\u2019s\u00a0challenging to speak\u00a0about a complicated subject, especially one that exploits a child\u2019s sanctity\u00a0and innocence.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s a\u00a0touchy\u00a0thing for me,\u201d Sheila said. \u201cIt\u2019s\u00a0like walking on eggshells.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"CLAY COUNTY \u2013\u00a0She\u2019s read the original warrant from\u00a0May 11, 2011.
