JACKSONVILLE, Fla. \u2014 Family and friends are remembering a man who was killed in what police said was a road rage shooting.<\/p>\n
Joe Starkey was shot on Wednesday night on St. Johns Bluff Road S. Investigators said the alleged shooter turned himself in.<\/p>\n
>>> STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <\/b><\/a><\/p>\n \u201cWe just sat there in silence for a long time; we couldn\u2019t fathom that this happened,\u201d Starkey\u2019s friend Tony Mikus said.<\/p>\n Starkey was a familiar face in Jacksonville\u2019s music scene.<\/p>\n \u201cYou didn\u2019t think of the Jacksonville music community without thinking of Joe Starkey,\u201d Mikus said.<\/p>\n Mikus said Starkey frequently played with his band at Cliff\u2019s Bar and Grill, and he said his friend was not just a performer.<\/p>\n \u201cSinger, songwriter, guitar player, bass player, sound guy, studio engineer, he was just an incredibly talented man,\u201d Mikus said.<\/p>\n But now Mikus, along with many others, are just left with memories of Starkey.<\/p>\n \u201cEverybody will remember Joe in a kind way,\u201d Mikus said. \u201cI\u2019ve known Joe for a long time and never know him to be confrontational at all.\u201d<\/p>\n Action News Jax is still working to learn what led up to the shooting.<\/p>\n [DOWNLOAD: <\/b>Free Action News Jax app for alerts as news breaks<\/b><\/a>]<\/b><\/p>\n As of now, police said no one has been charged, and all witnesses have been interviewed.<\/p>\n JSO said detectives are still investigating this case and working to gather all the facts and evidence.<\/p>\n A memorial show will be held for Starkey at Cliff\u2019s Bar and Grill on Dec. 17th from 6-9 p.m. <\/p>\n And there is a GoFundMe for Starkey\u2019s family.<\/p>\n Fundraiser by Damien Starkey: Helping Joe Starkey\u2019s Wife in Her Time of Need<\/a><\/p>\n
