{"id":444522,"date":"2025-12-13T13:11:27","date_gmt":"2025-12-13T13:11:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/444522\/"},"modified":"2025-12-13T13:11:27","modified_gmt":"2025-12-13T13:11:27","slug":"keller-isd-place-6-board-position-to-open-after-charles-randklev-resigns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/444522\/","title":{"rendered":"Keller ISD Place 6 board position to open after Charles Randklev resigns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\tA Keller ISD board position will be vacant after Place 6 trustee Charles Randklev announced his resignation Dec. 10 on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/p\/1H2RwW3SYn\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">social media<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The gist<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Randklev said he was resigning to pursue candidacy for a position on Keller City Council. That position will be on the ballot for the May 2, 2026, election.<\/p>\n<p>While KISD board terms ordinarily last three years, the board recently approved new November election dates for board trustee positions at a meeting <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/dallas-fort-worth\/keller-roanoke-northeast-fort-worth\/education\/2025\/11\/21\/kisd-approves-november-election-date-for-board-of-trustees-seats\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nov. 20<\/a>, which extends all current board terms by six months. The new ordinance places the next vote for the KISD seats during the Nov. 3, 2026, general election.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Zooming out<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Texas <a href=\"https:\/\/statutes.capitol.texas.gov\/docs\/ed\/htm\/ed.11.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">law<\/a> states a vacant board seat can be filled by appointment until the next regular trustee election or order a special election. A board vacancy must be filled no later than the 180th day after it occurred if more than one year remains for the vacated position.<\/p>\n<p>The district did not provide a statement to Community Impact on whether there would be a special election for the Place 6 position.<\/p>\n<p>Randklev&#8217;s resignation also must be approved by the KISD board.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The background<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Randklev was first elected as the Place 6 Trustee <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/dallas-fort-worth\/keller-roanoke-northeast-fort-worth\/election\/2021\/05\/01\/charles-randklev-wins-keller-isd-place-6-election\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">in 2021<\/a> and was re-elected during the May 2024 election.<\/p>\n<p>He was board president for the 2024-25 school year when KISD was considering a <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/dallas-fort-worth\/keller-roanoke-northeast-fort-worth\/education\/2025\/01\/17\/keller-isd-trustees-take-no-action-in-possible-district-split\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">district split<\/a>.
