Located in Massachusetts, the New England Wildlife Center operates two non-profit veterinary hospitals for animals in need. One of their current residents is an opossum who recently had surgery and was recovering in one of the center’s cages. Last week, she somehow escaped from her cage, but it wasn’t tough for workers to find her!<\/p>\n

The Wildlife Center<\/a> explained more about the situation in the caption, “Our opossum<\/a> patient pulled a great escape overnight \u2014 but she made it very easy for us to quickly locate her under the shift cage, thanks to her loud snoring!<\/p>\n We’re extremely pleased with this mighty marsupial’s<\/a> recovery journey. So she went and crept under there to feel safe!”<\/p>\n Opossums are gentle, non-aggressive animals known for being shy. Critter Care Wildlife Society<\/a> shared, “Opossums are nocturnal animals, which means they are most active at night. During the day, they prefer to rest and hide in safe, quiet places where they won\u2019t be disturbed. This behavior helps them avoid predators and conserve energy for their nighttime activities.”<\/p>\n They also shared another cool fact about these animals: “Opossums don’t build elaborate homes or nests like some animals. Instead, they use their surroundings to create temporary shelters. Their primary goal is to stay out of sight from predators during the day.
