Sevy\u2019s Grill in Dallas will close in 2026, after almost 30 years serving dishes like shrimp cakes, chopped salads and barbecue-glazed salmon near Highland Park and University Park.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s \u201cthe end of an era\u201d in the Park Cities, wrote chef-owner Jim \u201cSevy\u201d Severson in an email.<\/p>\n

His Dallas grill survived some of the most catastrophic economic climates for restaurants, including the period after 9\/11, the late 2000s recession and the COVID-19 pandemic. But it was a failed lease negotiation with the landlord in 2025 that will spell the end in 2026.<\/p>\n

Sevy\u2019s is expected to close June 27, 2026, the owner wrote. The Dallas Morning News will update this story when we are able to talk to Severson by phone.<\/p>\n

Chef Jim Severson is the name behind Sevy’s since it opened in 1997.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur focus now,\u201d he wrote, \u201cis to finish these next 6+ months taking care of our guests and staff at the same caring level we built our brand on: warm, professional service, consistently good food and a comfortable ambiance where the guest is always first.\u201d<\/p>\n

Severson hopes to find a new location for Sevy\u2019s in 2026. <\/p>\n

His plan is similar to Adelmo\u2019s Ristorante, an unaffiliated Italian restaurant at Inwood Road and Lovers Lane. Adelmo\u2019s, too, is closing<\/a> because the owner couldn\u2019t come to an agreement with the landlord, and the team is looking for a new lease nearby. Adelmo\u2019s shutters Dec. 31, 2025.<\/p>\n

News of Sevy\u2019s closure in more than six months brought a flurry of well-wishers<\/a> on Facebook. Said one customer: \u201cJim, we will follow you anywhere.\u201d<\/p>\n

Since Sevy\u2019s debut in 1997, Preston Center has grown up around it, with upscale eateries like il Bracco<\/a> and 55 Seventy wine club<\/a> opening on either side of Preston Road. A Latin grill called Casa Brasa<\/a> just opened in the former Nick & Sam\u2019s Grill. A major Preston Center redo<\/a> that includes a 17-story apartment and 12-story office building is expected to be finished by 2028.<\/p>\n

Then and now, Sevy\u2019s was steady. The News called it \u201ca dependable, handsome restaurant with a solid menu\u201d two decades ago.<\/p>\n

Severson wrote: \u201cAs I tell my family and friends to \u2018enjoy the ride in life,\u2019 wow, what an amazing ride it has been for us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Sevy\u2019s Grill is at 8201 Preston Road (at Sherry Lane), Dallas. Sevy\u2019s is open for lunch and dinner six days a week; closed Sundays.
