DES MOINES, Iowa \u2014 Beaverdale Books in Des Moines will soon host the author of a new book about Caitlin Clark and the surge of women’s sports.<\/p>\n
Christine Brennan<\/a> is an award-winning USA TODAY\u00a0<\/b>columnist and television commentator who will be showcased at the Franklin Event Center July 15, discussing her new book, On Her Game: Caitlin Clark and the Revolution in Women\u2019s Sports.<\/p>\n Brennan will also make a stop at Dog-Eared Books in Ames (7 p.m. July 14) during her book tour.<\/p>\n The book<\/a>, which is set to release Tuesday, is billed as an “electrifying portrait” of the Iowa-native Clark.<\/p>\n In a recent Good Morning America interview<\/a>, Brennan said although she has covered sports for a “long time,” Clark has helped bring women’s team sports to a new level.<\/p>\n “I never thought I’d see this in my lifetime,” she said. “People standing in line in January like its a Springsteen concert or a Taylor Swift concert, to watch a woman play basketball.”<\/p>\n She says her work draws on many in-depth interviews with the Indiana Fever star, as well as “behind-the-scenes reporting.”<\/p>\n After the WNBA’s Olympic break in 2024, Brennan went to Indianapolis and was with the Fever “every step of the way.”<\/p>\n Brennan said “nothing was off limits” when talking to Clark, adding that she was even able to ask questions about the the phenom liking a Taylor Swift social media post<\/a> in which Swift endorsed former presidential candidate Kamala Harris.<\/p>\n “She looks you in the eye, she gives you long answers, she’s direct, she’s also very very funny.” she said. “And everything was thrown at her and she handled it in a beautiful way.”<\/p>\n Individual tickets for the event are $35 which includes a signed copy of the new book. Or a $40 ticket can be bought to admit two people while also including one signed copy of the book.
